Members Alanfc Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 How many solder connections are we talking about here in your average handmade tube amp? I have solder joint vibration issues and am going to take it in for search and repair mission. But how can the tech find the problem -I mean there must be 2354981750913457 solder joints in there yes? Just curious please humor me. thanks

Then bypass every gainstage except the CF (35% less). still 15%. Then check all grounds, then . . . .

Members kannibul Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 Lets see... If a Turret board has about 60 turrets. Figure double that since wire has two ends (120) Plus all the misc stuff like jacks, switches, lights, grounds, caps, transformers - you're probably looking at about 300 solder joints.
Members Alanfc Posted October 11, 2005 Author Members Posted October 11, 2005 OK thanks I'm sure my tech will probably test it all out first, like Duesentrieb described. Gaaah I wish I could do this myself.
