Members x3k6
Any decent effects processors I could pick up used for around 200ish? I was looking at the GT-6. I don't really have a chance to test any of them out here.. aside from the idea I have in my head that it takes a decent amount of time {censored}ing around with these things to get to where you like or feel comfortable with them? Either way.. I'm just interested in experimenting with effects etc. I would like to be able to get some decent heavy sounding {censored} out of it as well, but that isn't a must. Also.. I have a Peavey 6505+. Will an effects processor work alright with this in getting decent clean effects etc.. since the 6505+ really doesn't have a true clean channel? I also have a Crate Blue Voodoo.. but I think I am going to be trading that in for a different cab. Either way.. info and thoughts are very much appreciated, thanks. - Ryan

Members DJLantz444
I'm not the expert. But I'm pretty sure if the clean on the Peavey is always sort of "dirty." It's not going to magically clean up with a processor. The tone of the amp effects the overall tone you'll get out of it..

Members x3k6
Well I know it's always sort of dirty, but I mean.. does it sound alright w/ most effects? I don't need a crystal clear clean.. but I would like to experiment with as many effects as possible, and I was wondering if the 6505+ takes well to them, even though there isn't a 'clean' channel. Members Code-001
Well, you looking for a floor multi-effects unit or rack multi-effects unit?
Members x3k6
Well, you looking for a floor multi-effects unit or rack multi-effects unit? Floor. I would say it doesn't matter because in most cases I could get a midi board right? Well.. that would probably put me well over anywhere in my price range. So yes.. floor. Members Code-001
The GT6 is a pretty good unit - I'd look into that. As for a clean on the 5150 II/6505+, you'll never really get a good clean I'm afraid but if you add Chorus, Reverb and a little delay (compressor helps too), you'll get a pretty workable clean. Actually, next week I'll be getting my Firebox and SM57 mic so I'll be able to record what my clean channel sounds like on my 5150 II. I'm using a rack unit though. Members Karma1
I recently picked up a Zoom G2.1u multi fx pedal and am extremely impressed with it's sound quality and ease of use. They sell for $169 which puts it in your price range. It's got very high specs and is a quantum leap from Zoom's earlier stuff like the 505 series. I've been playing over 30 years and have lots of other more expensive gear, like the TC Electronics G Major, Lexicon effects, etc., but I wanted something small and portable for certain occasions. However, I anticipate using this thing a lot more than I had originally intended, because it sounds so good. Check out the User Reviews here on Harmony Central. Members Sir Don
I just recently got myself a GT-5. I find that this sounds pretty good but takes a lot of dialling in.
