Members Everlone
I am looking at the Vox VR30 tube pre combo. It has a 10" speaker, but also a ext. cab out. Is 30 watts through a 2x12 enought to play in a band?

Members MitchSchaft
I doubt it. Especially if your drummer is super loud.

I use my AD30 through a 2x12 cab and it can get loud. Just get your speakers up in the air a bit so that you can actually hear them instead of shooting past your legs and stand however close you need to in order to hear it. Then let the PA do the grunt work like with any amp.

Members Everlone
$150, but I can get it for $100.
Members Rayneman
I seriously doubt it, especially with overdriven tones.
Members richardson
Wouldn't be nearly as loud as I'd need it to be
Members BloodyScalpel
It would be the same as 30 tube watts going through a 2x12...
Members dinrodef
If your drummer is the hooked on phonics monkey, then 30 SS watts will work perfectly

Members GCDEF
I disagree. If your drummer is controlled, it'll be plenty. I've used an AD30VT with a drummer and it kept up easily. It's not enough for gigging unmiced, but for practice in a small room it's fine.
Members MitchSchaft
If you're playing quite jazz maybe. A rock drummer needs to be loud!

Especially the stupid ones. Just fold a little back through the monitors if you need a little extra.
