Another MF screwup

So remember the JSX I ordered from MF awhile ago that was never shipped? I then cancelled the order and ordered one from Sam Ash. Well I just got a call from some dude in Texas that bought a JSX from MF and said my invoice was in the box with my name, address and home phone. He also thinks he blew the amp because it's not working anymore. I guess he plugged it into a Behringer combo and didn't know anything about matching ohms or if it could even go into the combo.

Anyway, I find this pretty alarming that MF did this so I e-mailed yet another complaint to them. Anyone have this happen before?

MF re-sales returns as seconds or blems right? I think this is SOP for a lot of mail order type places. The guy probably thought he would save some pesos buying this way.

Too bad he turned out to be a total asshat and blew the damn amp. You would think that in this modern day internet era, that people would research new {censored}e. Sounds like the guy knew zero about tube amps. Go figure.

I`m with you on that one. That would really piss me off too. Hopefully the guy isn`t some nut job that will show up at your house with a case of beer and his `ol lady. Wanting to party. Or he could be a violent ex-felon wanting to take out his blown amp frustrations on you. Or he could be an alien from Mars, wanting to "probe" you. :freak:

Some years ago, I ordered a Randall RM4 with modules from MF. It took for {censored}ing ever to arrive, and when it did, the unit (RM4) was clearly a re-sale. It was all scratched up, as evident from having been put in (and removed) from someone's rack? Also, the boxes for the modules were trashed and the PC boards on the modules themselves scratched up to {censored}.

Returned it immediately as this was supposed to have been a "new" item, but was clearly a blem that was re-sold to me as "new".

that's my next step....I get tired of talking to them and getting nowhere though. I got a reply to my e-mail saying that it was passed onto management and they'll be getting back to me.

might be worth checking to see if they breached any laws by sending your personal contact data out. Like someone mentioned - could have been an alien wanting to "probe" you

I'm curious about the privacy laws here...if anyone knows anything, it's much appreciated.

If you feel so exposed, contact a lawyer.

IMO, the most you'll get is an apology from a "customer service rep."

our keyboard player is a lawyer...I'll be asking him. I already got a reply from customer service stating I'll be contacted by management. I'm so fed up with MF's {censored}ty customer service that I plan on seeing what can be done.

What i don't understand is this: if you are fed up with them, why still order something from them ?

You must ask youself this:

What am I expecting to get out of this?

A financial settlement? Hardly
To put Musicians Friend out of business? Nope
A 10% off coupon? Maybe
An "executive's apology" which is really just a call center manager? Prolly

I haven't ordered anything since. They just gave me a MAJOR runaround with this whole JSX order and basically lied to save face. THAT's what I'm pissed about. Now some guy in Texas has my personal contact info from ordering the UNOPENED amp I sent back.

If you would have followed the proper return policy and practices....this would not have happened.

I've returned things to MF before.

If you tear off the part of the invoice that gets taped to the outside of the box you are returning and then fill out, tear off and return the part on the back of the invoice that you fill out and stick inside the box that you are returning.......then all you are left with to keep or throw away is a small piece of paper with your name and address.

The only way that guy ended up with your invoice is because you left it in there.

my invoice was in the box with my name, address and home phone.

I am looking at an invoice right now.....my phone number is not on it. I dont see how he got your phone number off of the invoice. I do all my ordering online thru their website, I dont know if that makes a difference.

The outside UPS shipping label has my phone number on it. But I always remove that label or at least scratch or blacked it out before returning the item.

I'd say that you are partly to blame for some person ending up with your name, address and phone number.

This is true.

However, it sounds as if he just did a straight-up refusal of the package.

In which, it's MF fault.

Even when I've decided before a package arrived that I was going to send it back.....I've still opened the box to inspect the item to make sure that there is not some damage that could be blamed on me and to fill out the return form and get a RA#.

But if some one were to refuse the package without ever signing for it then one should expect MF to be more careful.

exactly what I did...and what I was told to do by MF...and I have an MF invoice here from something I bought in the past with my phone number on it....so yes it was there. MF told me to have the UPS guy not even take the box off the truck when it arrived and to refuse it, so therefore I could not open it or tear anything off the box. It's on them.
