OT: Proof that socks do disappear in the washer/dryer.

Doing some laundry last night. I go in to put everything into the dryer. Clothes are soaking wet and the drum is still half full of water. I manually the run the final spin cycle again....won't kick on. We've got a front loading washer that's about 4 years old. I'm fairly irritated.

Called Sears...they send a guy out today. I send him downstairs...5 minutes later, he's back upstairs, problem fixed. He's holding a couple of infant socks and some pocket change.

Turns out my washer ate two of my daughter's socks (and a little loose change over the years) and it clogged the pump.

P.S. $137.00 to "fix" my washer. Happy Holidays from Sears.

Which units do you have man? I work at an appliance company on Dryer controls.

The bellows (seals) on the front loaders are notorious for eating socks, especially baby's socks. You have to check the bellows on every cycle to help prevent that.

The Kenmore Sock Eater.

It does have very heavy duty seals/bellows. Guess I'll be checking them from now on.....or counting socks into and out of the washer.

Haha! That sucks man, but the way you told the story was comical.

:thu:

I might as well have taken $137 out of my wallet and lit it on fire.

I'll just tell the wife that it's coming out of her shoes/purse/jewelry fund and NOT my UberKab fund. ;)

If you have more problems, just post a thread man.

I might have been able to help you with this one.

Appliance service/parts in general is a rip off regardless of company.

Thanks, I'll remember that. Since it was just a clogged pump, I'll know to check that next time....but thanks, I'll keep it in mind.:thu:

One day when you're married, you'll have to work out a system with your wife. Our system is that I get gear periodically and she get's to buy her crap....purses, shoes, jewelry, etc. Let me tell you, coach bags ain't cheap at $300 a pop.

My problem is that I have a guitar AND drum habit....drum stuff is spendy too.
