Members Whackmaster63
It works great in front of my 5150 But its very PRICEY
Members cloudnine
I have one, it's very good. Just dont set the phase TOO low. I prefer Script mode, regular is too aggressive for me.
Members rhino bucket
i've got one and love it. when i tried it out at the store with a crappy little ss amp, i couldn't see were it was doing anything better than the phase 90. however the sales guy swore up and down it has better electronics in it. so i got the evh one. anyways i wonder if maybe it doesn't have better electronics in it, because it isn't anywhere near as noisey as my other stock mxr pedals. but then again i haven't tried the regular 90 with a good amp. so who knows? Members Kevin11
I have one and am really disappointed at what it does to my dry tone when it's off. Mine imparts an extremely nasally quality to the tone. It's supposed to be "true bypass" but it's anything but whether in front of the amp or in the loop. Sounds like I have a quiet wah pedal turned on. Doesn't matter whether I'm using a battery or AC adapter.MXR support said I might have a bad mode switch. Not sure about that. It's brand-new, works fine and is extremely quiet in all respects, but mine at least is far from pristine to my dry tone.Just a word of caution. Maybe I'm just way too picky about this stuff. Members TOStudent
So the EVH will get script 90 phase as well as the more agressive phase?

I have one as well. Cool pedal. I got it for really cheap though so I couldnt pass it up. I too like the script mode a lot more. Regular mode has too much phase... Members t-rave
I prefer the orange one..cheaper, sounds good and it doesnt have the gay cosmetics...
Members TOStudent
From the replys it seems the script mode sounds better. I agree the Orange is far cheaper and if that is what sounds better why pay all the extra for the EVH. What is anyone if so using the more agressive phase off the EVH for? Those of us that have the EVH probably use the script mode exclusively. FWIW, you can pick up a used orange pase 90, and have it modded for script for cheaper than a new EVH... Members t-rave
the script "mod" is nothing more than cutting a resistor labled r 28... actually the reissue comes standard in "agressive" mode..the r28 mod mellows it out....
Members damage04
i used to have one, and it didnt have as thick of a phase sound as i was looking for. I wanted something more defined.

Members blackba
I have a modded Dunlop MXR Phase 90. It was too harsh for me stock, it is more subtle now, but smoother sounding. I am probably going to pick up an EVH phase 90 for my 2nd rig once I see how much Xmas money I have. I might be willing to sell my modded Phase 90, so let us know what you are going to go with. Members 4nkam
I have one and I also use the script mode most of the time. the only thing I don't care for is that the pedal seems to eat batteries like crazy MJ
Members PC Biz
Do an AB test with a Boss PH-2 ($60 bucks or so on ebay) and the new EVH Phase 90. You WILL be surprised.

I play primarily clean, and maybe 20% high gain. My original 1982 Phase 90 is somewhere in South America now, thanks to an old friend of mine. I'm using a George Dennis phaser now, which is very cool and doesn't dominate your guitar's tone as much. However, the Boss as well as my old MXR grabbed your tone completely and whooshed it up quite a bit. I kinda miss that. I'll check out the MXR myself, but I'm leaning toward the Phase 100.
