Members Tesseract Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 Yow peeps - had some inspiration and thought i'd post it for the hell of it....bit different to my usuall stuff on the second half and the clip lasts longer than 1 minute! The links into sections are a bit random at the moment as i wanted to get the ideas down. Its a bit more simple in the second half...more ambient/melodic epic kinda ( i hope!) Just curious on opinions. http://acle.tesseractband.co.uk/TesseracT-Ideas-Jan6.mp3 Ta! (Any one get ideas when they just hear a few notes on a TV program or something?)
Members AgentOrange Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 awsome as usual dude, your production blows me away every time Hows it goin anyways? Any news about meshuggah playing the UK after they cancelled on us? I know what you mean about random inspiration, there was some really lame 80s pop salsa type song on TV the other day but the rhythm behind it was actually pretty interesting and i couldnt help but drum along to it. Thats why i always keep my guitar and Air Drumkit
Members AlexWade Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 is it even possible for you to produce something bad? hahaha amazing as always man.
Members blargh Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 When's the cd coming out, I'll be picking it up!
Members gibson5413 Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 Man, I love your clips! I would love to hear some more Powerball clips. I actually have all of your clips you have posted over the past 2 years. I will be buying when you are selling! In fact, I love the 2nd half of that clip. Its reminiscent of Devin Townsend Band stuff (which I love). I can't get enough of ambient stuff like that!
Members sickb0y Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 Dude... very nice stuff. Very nice indeed. I especially like the second half of the track. The only thing i noticed is that the start of this sounds a bit like a track from the Sol Niger Within record - i can't remember which track... but i hear a little bit of similarity. Other than that... it's all good, and you need to finish your CD when you've got the time so you can become known throughout the lands.
Members hail and kill Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 get that damn cd out already!
Members fancynapkin Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 I will buy your cd. the 2nd part sort of sounded deftone-ish. I likey.
Members Megadeth7684 Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 The thing I like most about your clips is the slower melodic clean type stuff, and how you arrange it perfectly with heavy {censored} in the background. Honestly, I still have no idea how you get tones like that from a POD. No one else comes close to you in that regard IMO.
Members Moltar Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 I absolutely LOVE your clips man. I always forget to save them though. Im saving this one though. Do you think you could post some more? I would really appreciate it and many others would too im sure.
Members Beergoblin Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 As stated earlier, I like the mix of the ambience with the harder stuff. It doesn't feel unnatural at all, it totally blends, nice work mang!
Members Tesseract Posted January 6, 2006 Author Members Posted January 6, 2006 Eyy thanks doods! Much appreciatedos! Sickboy - dam!! i hadn't realised that ...gonna have to scrap that one...thought it sounded a bit too good for my making! might just screw around with it some more polyrhythm wise etc And yeah i like the whole ambient mixed with heavy stuff - that was my original method/intention with old tesseract stuff but i havn't done much of it recently. it usually works really well - esp with a good chord progression. Hehe thanks megadeath -it could be better but it's doing the job! Moltar - im at work at the moment when im home ill check my FTP and repost the links of some old clips...can't check it from here - stupid web filter! xMadi - yow - i just use Nuendo with a DigiDesign 002 soundcard...used a quantum for the mastering on this track also. all plugins other than that (except for the pod & tc preamp) Orange - Hey buddy! i know man dam mesh...i heard something about them not being able to get enough people to some of the shows - but that seems kinda odd ...not really sure what happened there! Meshuggah DVD coming out in 2007 though (and textures album this april!) And cheers for wanting a CD peeps ill no doubt spam this forum when i finally finish...i think i may have a heart attack that day.
Members rawhedrex Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 I gotta be honest with you here man - whilst this is a nice clip - i really dislike the tone - it's very well done but it just sounds far too much like it's trying to be meshuggah. I have to admit though - it's hard to do polyrythms and not be accused of meshuggah worship - the cleaner more melodic stuff is nice, and has a more unique vibe about, but a player with your obvious skill might like to steer away from a sound that is very much flavour of the month material in the heavier department. Remember - the better you are, the more I go on about this sort of thing - so please dont take these comments the wrong way.
Members Grim Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 once again - WOW !!! great piece of music here as usual :-) record that bloody album finally ! dammit !

Precisely, this is the exact same comments i have on the stuff you come up with man. They're genius and the melodic part just sends me off to places but the distortion stuff sounds very much like "ok, this guy is trying to cop Fredrik". That intro riff as well as that last riff prior to the melodic 2nd half was a very obvious rip off of some of the tracks of Sol Niger. Don't take it the wrong way though, you're an amazing musician and i truly admire your playing style and the stuff you come up with but you really have to start finding your own voice man.
Members unholyaria Posted January 16, 2006 Members Posted January 16, 2006 As good as ever Acle. Honestly, I think you have an intro riff that you don't need though -- I'd use it for another song idea and narrow this song to where it starts to slow down, then maybe expand on all the rest. Over the years, I've realized that some of the best writing I've done was to take a song I was writing, split it into two and be stuck with two songs even less finished (which sucks) but usually works better in the end.
Members lepersmeesa Posted January 16, 2006 Members Posted January 16, 2006 sounded awesome man. Really liked the tone. I prefered the 2nd half of the clip, ambient stuff moving back into the heavy bit again. Keep up the good work.
