Fisher preamp tubes:

I posted last week about this, and someone said they might be RCA, telefunken, mullard etc.

Anyway, they're 12ax7/ecc83's (found an old stereo receiver at the curb. I'd estimate it to be from the 70's) They all say "The Fisher" on them, but some were made in West Germany, and some were made in Great Britain. The ones from Great Britain (there are only two that work of these) have worn codes on them, so I can't make them out. The ones from West Germany have OL stamped vertically on them. There are also some 7867's.(I think that's what they are, but I don't have them here right now.

Since labels are often incorrect, photos would be the only way to identify them with any certainty.

The only Fisher labeled tubes I've seen have been Mullards or Telefunkens.

I've heard great things about Mullards, but I haven't really heard anything about the Telefunkens. Thanks for a response though. When my stepdaughter gets out of bed, I'll have her take a photo and I'll post it.

You'll hear great things about Telefunkens too. Of course, your ears are the only things that count.

Cool old amp! I remember them. The 7867's are a 6EX6 and may be hard to find since they have been out of production something like 30 years. I don't know of any substute for them, I may have a few left in my stash.

Could the 7867's be worth some money if they're working?

Some of those look like smooth plate Telefunkens to me. Telefunkens have a small diamond on the bottom of the tube between the pins. Check to see if that is present.

They look to be in good enough shape that the codes should be readable, since the paint is still on them. The paint is usually the first thing to go. If they're at all readable the code of Mullards made in the Blackburn Lancashire plant start with a "B".

one has B3G1 stamped upside down on it of the british ones that I can read.

The other ones do have the diamond on the bottom, and they habe 922 on them

The receiver/amplifier looked kind of dogged, and there was corrosion all around. There are some other tubes in there that I haven't looked at yet, but I took out the ecc83's and had them tested because they are of use to me in my amps.

P.S. I wouldn't exactly call it "cannibalizing" it since it was left out for the garbage. I'm sure there were some things that would have needed replacing to get the thing to work, and I'm not in the position to be repairing "finds" while I still have two vehicles that are in major need of work. If the tubes sound great in an amp, then the stereos' spirit lives on;)
