Members Inazone
I bought an old Peavey Classic 60 power amp a couple months ago, fired it up to make sure it worked, and then didn't touch it again until tonight. It sounds great, but the fan is really loud. Being new to the rackmount stuff, I don't have any basis for comparison, but the fan noise definitely seems excessive. Is there any "quick fix" for this, or should I take it to a shop?
Members Pepi
A lot of the muffin fan used today are really cheap. I would say from experience you need to replace the fan.
Members -=Pennywise=-
go to a local computer store and find the size you need. Sometimes they have different versions of fans with different Db ratings, pick a quiet fan that pushes a lot of air.
Members Inazone
I take it that a simple fan replacement isn't the type of repair where I'm likely to electrocute myself? I haven't popped the lid on this amp yet, so I make no assumptions.
Members Pepi
The fan should be easy to replace. Just be sure and discharge the filter capacitors!!!
