Members jem7vwh
Is it a phaser or a flanger or what? I've always thought it was a phaser, but some people have said otherwise.

Members Randy Van Sykes
Could be a guy standing in front of the amp moving the mic around.

Close, it sounds like two gypsy midgets dancing in front of an 8 ohm 4x12 loaded with greenbacks, while a pissed orangutan wearing an SM57 around his neck runs back and forth, 4' 3" in front of the amp. Members V-Type
I think he was using an all Boss pedal board at that time. In the 1983 US Festival vid it shows his pedals pretty good. However It very well could be a studio rack unit also.

You may be right...though I think it sounds a little more like G12H's than Greenbacks....I could be wrong... No, I think you're right now that I had another listen.. I'm dying here... Members Paul VanJohnson
I'm not a big Ozzy fan but I love how the his vocals "fade in" after the guitar solo. Reminds me of the "The Hero's Return" on Pink Floyd's The Final Cut. The few seconds after the opening "Jesus, Jesus what's it all about" sounds like a sonic boomerang through headphones (goes away and comes back at you). Members phyrexia
I think it's a flanger with low resonance and feedback.
