Members FalseRevRG
there's one at Daddy's in Boston, it's the same as this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ampeg-slant-front-100-watt-4-12-cabinet_W0QQitemZ270040070546 has a Celestion Equipped badge on the front, and is loaded with 4 of these: is that the one that everybody talks about as being good, or is that a different one? Members potaetoes
actual greenbacks. there are dozens of speakers that were "intended" to be higher power greenbacks. none of them sound like greenbacks.
Members FalseRevRG
ok....so any idea how this cab fits in the good-bad spectrum in terms of Ampeg's guitar 4x12s?
Members BrendanO
I think those are it. Mine have these "SLM" brand speakers. St. Lous Music OEMs. Dunno what they're supposed to be. I think the one you linked to is the "good" ones. Mine's the v412, which is the "not so good" but still not bad. Hell, for $250 shipped, I'm not complaining. Members Greazygeo
We've got a used Ampeg cab in stock that went with the Lee Jackson designed amps. It's birch plywood, has celestion V30's and is mono / stereo switchable. If you are looking for a "metal" sound, one of these might be what you are looking for. It looks just like the one you linked to, but has the "Celestion" badge in one of the corners. The cab you linked to went with the VH series amps and should be loaded with Ampeg speakers (Eminence). Crate/ SLM speakers were Eminence as well. george

Also what Eminence model are they close too? And Cool Your with in road trip distance from me.

Oh the one in the ebay link doesn't have that badge. The G12L's I am thinking of were 35 watts, though they may have made others. The VH150 is a mono only amp right (no chorus)? You might want to get the model # off the speakers to make sure what they are. I'm sure the cab would be fine with the amp regardless. I never cared for the celestions with the Ampeg SS amps. But I tend to prefer a tighter/ cleaner speaker with SS amps. If it sounds good to you, go for it.

No they made two models of cabs. The reg BV cab which was less expensive and eminence loaded and a more expensive cab that was V30 loaded. They were made exactly the same other than the speakers. I like the eminence cab better, but I hate V30's . Stop down anytime and say hey! George

I bought two cabs with all celestion v30's and one with the Crate/eminence speakers but swapped those for 75's and all three cabs including the 4 extra celestions were $900 total. Not a bad deal at all IMO. Great bang for the buck.

Members FalseRevRG
got this email from Ampeg a little bit ago: Hey Ari, These cabs were made for the Lee Jackson amps we did back in the early 90s. They are part of the VL series. The Celestions were custom made for us by Celestion to our specs. That's why you won't find them on the Celestion website. The cab should be a 100 watt cab but I can't really say what the impedance should be. If I'm not mistaken, there should be a switch on the back of the cab? Hope this helps, feel free to drop me a line anytime..... Members FalseRevRG
i just sent a reply email asking if he can give me a bit more info about what it's made of....it does seem that this is basically the cab i initially thought it was, though (other than not having the G12T75s). Members mikey
I have two of those, a slant and a straight. I bought 'em new in '89-'90 with a VH140 head, they are loaded with the 75's. They're really nice cabs , they've held up awesome. Mine are really beat now but I've never had any problems other than replacing broken casters. I've played about 700 gigs with these, not to mention practices etc.etc. Too bad that VH-140 head didn't last nearly as long! ...Just my $.02! Members FalseRevRG
so for $250, i guess this cab is worth it? and it'd sound good with X-patterned V30s and CL80s when i feel like spending that kind of money?
Members Greazygeo
i just looked at the one we have in stock. It has the badge in the lower right corner and says Celestion Vintage 30. I think they all had that mono/ stereo input panel.....
