Members Crazyfoo
I bought the 01/W FD the day it came out, I loved it.
Members Gaul
Korg 01W/FD is one of my favorite instruments ever. It's sound has the strongest presence in whatever synthesizer I tried, and I have put my hands on quite a a few. It's a bit of a shame that we didn't have another top keyboard with AI2 generator and more waveforms, as Trinity already spotted a a new type of sound generator. Members The Audacity Works
I was thiiiis close to buying an O1/Wfd, but ended up with the Generalmusic S2 instead. Partly because the O1 was used everywhere, and partly because I needed distortion built in for my awful dark industrial dreck at the time.
Members ChipCurtis
Very nice demonstration of what this synth was capable of, in a true "Workstation" context. I owned the M1 (01/W's grand-daddy) for about 6 years before parting with it. Enjoyed it a lot. This demo kind of proves how much workstations had changed the whole synth/keyboarding world for a brief period (before computers took over music production), and it also shows how much has NOT really improved all that much in the recorded output that these machines are/were capable of. From 80s individual synths/samplers/sequencers/drum-machines to 90s all-in-one workstations (for creating soundtracks) = 80% improvement on sound and convenience. From 90s workstations to today's workstations, 20% improvement, mostly due to Moore's Law on RAM storage and speed -- not functionality, convenience, or (in many cases) sound. Members KingVidiot
Can you post a rip of that CD? I'm a long time 0/1w user and would love to hear it. Since the CD is out of print and not making any money I'm sure no one would mind.

Members McHale
Sure. I'll rip it in HQ MP3 and throw it on a 4shared. It's pretty decent. What's funny to notice... Jordan Rudess has a track on there and he's not listed on the cover.
Members seamonkey
I remember that. Did that come with an issue of Keyboard or did we have to order it?I remember seeing an ad or interview where Phil Collins was walking with it under his arm or something like that.I wonder if I have it buried in a box somewhere. Members Crazyfoo
I remember as a kid buying keyboard magazine and each issue had that little plastic record inside, that was cool!

Separate order. I think I have that Phil Collins issue around here someplace too. I don't remember if it was a Keyboard magazine or Korg Proview magazine. Ripping now... -Mc EDIT: Worth downloading just for the instrumental version of "Video Killed The Radio Star" alone.

Yep, Banks and Collins were carrying a Korg together. Wasn't it a Wavestation?
Members KingVidiot
Wow thanks for that. Some good stuff in there. The "Video Star" track was cool, but I'm partial to the Edgar Froese track. As a long-time TD freak it was nice to hear something "new" from him.
