I'm a dedicated Yamaha electric pianist, having used Yamaha P90, P120, p85 and currently a MOX8 as my "bottom' keyboard. I have a Roland PF5 piano in my studio, and it just doesn't sound "right" to me anymore and I want to replace it with a Yamaha. I can pick up a Yamaha P200 for cheap (

Thanx in advance for any replies... JP

PS: I also Have a Korg Krome and like my MOX8's piano sound better.............

10 years ago I went from using a P200 to a P120. Both had issues with slow or sticking keys. But Yamaha replaced the entire P120 keybed (with those of the later P140 model) free of charge. No problems at all 7 years later. Plus the P140 keysaction feel much better to play- lighter and faster.

Soundwise, I LOVED the P200. With the onboard speakers it was very inspiring to play, and an add-on sub made it even better. If I'm not mistaken, one of the pianos of the P90 was the same as that of the P200 Piano1.

The main thing I missed about the P200 was the form factor and feaures. So much, in fact, that I recently picked up a used CP300 which is very similar. I'm not sure that the CP300 pianos have as thick a bandwidth as that of the P200, but 10+ years later I would have to A/B them to know for sure. I would expect that the P200 is still a very good, competitive and useable piano sound but it's been so long..

I went and tried the one at G/C near me and the actual keybed was so noisy and distracting it turned me right off on it. I'm guessing this one was very tired, thus the noise, but I don't know. Also, they didn't have a sustain pedal hooked up, but the organ patches were acting like they did and it was sustaining all the time.

I had a P120 a while ago, liked it a lott, but had some problems with it cutting out and sold it cheap after grabbing my Roland. Too bad Yamaha doesn't make a piano module anymore.

Thanx!!  JP
