To the guy who posted Ministry lyrics, how about this...

"Anal {censored}fest, Drill Olympics..."

from Burning Inside

That one always got us back in the three foot bong/double dipped hits of Porky Pig acid days.

Here is a gem -

"A wrinkled rose snapped back,
And the flies on flowers spreading out,
To all sickness and humanity.
Listen to our Queen as she is offering free samples -
Of her lovely garden spoils."

-Jane Of The Waking Universe,
-Robert Pollard,
-Guided By Voices

Or my favorite, actually -

"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeroooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnn......................It's my wife.........and it's my life"

- Lou Reed

Indiscipline--King Crimson

I do remember one thing.
It took hours and hours...
by the time I was done with it,
I was so involved,
I didn't know what to think.
I carried it around with me for days and days..
playing little games...
like not looking at it for a whole day
and then.. looking at it.
to see if I still liked it.

I did.

I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat..
The more I look at it,
the more I like it.
I do think it's good.
The fact is..
no matter how closely I study it,
no matter how I take it apart,
no matter how I break it down,
It remains consistent.

I wish you were here to see it!

I like it!

Funny, my wife, who did way more drugs than i did when she was a kid never knew what that line meant until I told her.

Brian

what is a paper bor (typo error??)

It is actually paper boy:

In other words:

Pictures of people on newspapers that has been delivered by a paper boy. In Britain all the front doors have holes in them where the mail and newspapers are delivered. Once they have passed through the hole, they just fall to the floor.

Hence "the paper holds their folded faces to the floor".

Now I live in the US I can see how hard it would be for an American to understand this line (and many others)

Hell, yeah! :D

In fact, here's a lyric of my own also about the sad state of modern music:

"monsters with calculators use math to wrestle alligators/
just like imitators milk and mangle the innovators..."

from the Nickaliscious 5/4 time signature hip-hop won't-ever-be-a-hit "People With Plans"...

This is not helping me at all
What you are doing here
In the name of God and love
It's the distribution of fear
Pyramids and healing wines
Analysts with fame
I haven't got your degree
And I've forgot your name

Pick me and put me on the ground
Set me up and spin me all around
You are not one (I wish to see)

From the song Top by Live.

Anyone who has ever been through therapy knows exactly what this song is about. :o

Go ahead and bash away but Don Henley can turn a great phrase.

"Same dancers in the same old shoes,

You get too careful with the steps you choose.

You dont care about winning but you dont want to lose

After the thrill is gone...

The flame rises but it soon decends,

Empty pages and a frozen pen.

Your not quite lovers and your not quite friends,

After the thrill is gone....."

Did you exchange a walk on part in a war for a lead role in a cage.

Don't know why, but this verse really caught me.

Another one that grabbed me is from an old Daryl Hall and John Oates album "War Babies" the song is 70's Scenario.

And I laugh and I say that's alright
Things really ain't that tough
as long I'm still able to turn the TV off.

The girls won't touch me cause I got a misdirection,
and livin at night isn't helpin my complexion
The signs all say it's a social infection
A little bit of fun's never been an insurrection

Mom threw me out til I get some pants that fit
She just don't approve of my strange kind of wit
I get so excited I always gotta lose it,
then they pack me off & make me take the cure
But I don't need a cure,
don't need a cure
don't need a cure,
need a final solution

Final Solution, Pere Ubu

I missed you and I must admit,
I kissed a few and once did sit,
on Ivor the engine Driver's lap
and later with him had a nap

"A quick one while hes away" Pete Townshend

If you are reading this lyric for the first time and thinking Ivor the Engine Driver is a silly rhyme there is a whole story to go along with this single lyric and this is where the story comes to a close

Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity.
Calculate what we will or will not tolerate.
Desperate to control all and everything.
Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen.
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down.
Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end.
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down.
Terrified of being wrong. Ultimatum prison cell.

Saturn ascends, choose one or ten. Hang on or be humbled again.

Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down.
Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end.
Saturn ascends, comes 'round again.
Saturn ascends, the one, the ten, ignorant to the damage done.

Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity.
Calculate what you will or will not tolerate.
Desperate to control all and everything.
Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen.

Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control.
Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper.

Defining, confining, sinking deeper.
Controlling, defining, and we're sinking deeper.

Saturn comes back around to show you everything
Lets you choose what you will and will not see and then
Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child, light and innocent.

Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or
Drags you down like a stone to
Consume you till you choose to let this go.
Choose to let this go.

Give away the stone. Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and faded anchor.
Give away the stone. Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold.

Let go.

-Maynard James Keenan/Tool "The Grudge"

Cinderella, she seems so easy
"It takes one to know one she smiles"
and puts her hands in her back pockets
Betty Davis style

In comes Romeo he's moaning,
"You belong to me I believe"
then someone says, "Your in the wrong place, my friend
you'd better leave"

And the only sound that's left
after the ambulences go
is Cinderella sweeping up on
Desolation Row

-Bob Dylan, "Desolation Row"

It's time you songwriting gurus were acquainted with the great Martin Walkyier (ex-Sabbat, ex-Skyclad)...

Youth of our nation - A lost generation
Like lepers we march to the chimes of Big Ben.
Exiled and rejected by powers elected
Our cries from the gutter don't reach number ten.
Give us this day our daily bread
Before the headlines read "bring out your dead."
Chip-wrapper flowers are blown onto this cardboard grave
My spray paint epitaph upon the wall it says...
"Here lies the bones of some poor homeless vagrant
He died as he lived, in the {censored} on the pavement."

-Skyclad, Cardboard City

[this next one here is dedicated to my man Wes Powell: ]

Commercial suicide's appealing
after ten years on this losing streak.
'Cause I'd rather be called sour and bitter
than be deemed the flavour of the 'weak'.

-Skyclad, Penny Dreadful

I've wandered far (I've wondered hard)
And have one source of comfort only -
When I share my thoughts with you
Mortality is not so lonely.
Countless starts between us -
Myriad the things I miss,
I say farewell and think of home
The static drowns my parting kiss.

Planet Earth is great to visit - It's great to visit
(but you wouldn't want to live there.)

And as your signal slowly wanes -
the fears return (my growing pains),
here it is for what it's worth -
yet another postcard from planet Earth.

-Skyclad, Postcard From Planet Earth

The curtain never falls
On the show that has it all,
Taken in, you can't begin to see their lies,
for the people who are clapping
Are the ones who will be laughing
At your fate, they just can't wait to bleed you dry.
-Sabbat, The Church Bizarre

[and my all time fave...]
Some say I bite the hand that feeds - but to these disillusioned eyes
'tis sweet revenge to watch it bleed (it has only fed me lies),
The dead horses you were flogging could not rise and stand upon its legs,
Behold the leper-minstrel has been cured and nevermore shall beg.
-Skyclad, The Sky Beneath My Feet

my pen is dry, now i'm uptight
so sick of limiting myself to fit your definition"

"Must we demonstrate that we can't get it straight?
we've painted a picture, now we're drowning in the paint.
Let's figure out what the {censored} it's about,
before the picture we painted chews us up and spits us out"

"You're so pretty when you're unfaithful to me"

"I was talking to preachy-preach about kissy-kiss
He bought me a soda
He bought me a soda
He bought me a soda and he tried to molest me in the parking lot
Yep, yep yep YEP!"

"you'll think i'm dead, but i sail away
on a wave of mutilation"
