Members chromatica17
this is exactly what i'm talking about. if you can comprehend the fact that the universe has been here FOREVER and will be here FOREVER(a etnernity) you can then comprehend the fact that God has been here forever, and will be here forever. Members ColourOfFire
Because humans would not have morals if this was just a free for all. Ever watch any documentaries on nature/the universe? There is something binding all of existence together. Yes they would, before the year 0 there were already tons of philosophers busy on the subject of moral and rules. Humans are like herd animals, a sense of moral and behavior in a group was grown in the evolutionary process.
Members Nevandal
I voted undecided. I'm surprised there was only one other vote for undecided...10 yes, 12 no, 2 undecided. My reasoning? Theres no way for us to tell if there is a God or not. You can think of the Universe as being God, which could make sense, but most people (in the US) when they think of God they're talking about Christianity, where God is an entity. In that case, theres no way to tell if he/she does or does not exist at all. The bible is ridden with flaws and contradictions...and so many Christians interpret it differently from one another. Then theres the whole thing that makes me hate organize religion...more people have died under the name of God than anything else. Just look at the Holy Crusades. The Jihads, what have you. It's all very senseless to me. Can't we all just get along? Anyways..I can blab about this for hours, so I'll just stop here.

Members ColourOfFire
Then explain why the universe exists, and how it was made. I'm not even going there, sorry, I have other things to do. Just go read some scientific stuff on the subject, they can explain it a lot better then I can. Members toneman123
I have read up on it, and have found out they really dont know. there is theorys, but the only thing they can understand is how things work in the universe, not how it was made or why it was made, etc.
Members vice2.0
As much as there is imbibed wonder at small things in our universe I just think there is too much neglect and chaos to believe in a God. And oh yeah. There should be no attacks on any bibles here because you can have faith in a God/higher power without subscribing to any religion. We're talking about GOD here, not his supposed biography and beliefs.
Members Neilrocks25
I dont and I think religion has a lot to answer for, though it has done some good. I still think the stench of death outways it. Though if my son turned religious I would'nt stop his beliefs. but it is fun doing this :poke: to a right wing christian, man they cant take a joke! Edit; I belive in the great it is my god

Members draelyc
There is DEITY; I will not speak to the existence of any particular god(s), since that is not, I think, what the question is actually asking. How do I "know"? Direct personal experience + a rigorous logical consideration (either of which, of course, being useless without the other). Members draelyc
Religion originally was a way for people to explain things they saw that they couldn't explain. Now almost everything I see can either be explained, or doesn't need to be explained. I have no need for a shoulder to cry on, or a bringer of hope. I just don't feel the need for any help or judgment from above, neither do I fancy the idea of an afterlife. That's what religion became, for many; it is most certainly not what it "originally" was. It's alot for a human being to understand you don't get it. first, the universe has only been here since the beginning of time, which is not the same as forever. as to whether it will end, who knows. god's existence is not a fact. it is a belief that you hold. man doesn't need god to exist, but god needs man to exist. Members ColourOfFire
That's what religion became, for many; it is most certainly not what it "originally" was. No, the first traces of religion that are found show that the most early forms of religion explain very basic questions about the world. More complicated and explaining forms like Christianity came ages later.

Members Fender Picker
I'm a man of science, not faith. I had to have proof. I found it in the book of Luke. Dates, times, places and witnesses. It was only after I was convenced that I called out to God. I asked Him to forgive me for breaking His laws. I knew from His word that the only way I could be forgiven was through Jesus Christ. And I'm confessing this fact to you all right now and asking you to consider it for yourselves.Ask any born again Christian about this and you'll get the exact same story. No matter where they are, it's the same. What I can't understand is why so many get defensive at the mere mention of God. Why do so many get angry to hear that God loves us? And that He made a way for us to be forgiven. There is NOTHING bad in that. Please read the book of Luke and see for yourself. If you want to read further, go to Acts. It's like part 2 of Luke.
