Tornado of Souls says he'll be back Saturday...

I'm reluctant to say this because I really don't see the worth in creating drama online but he wishes for those who care to know that RB reported his post in the vibrato thread... hence his bannination. :o

An extrapolation from: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2281939

VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ Regarding Porn Bombers/Trolls
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again, I am forced to make a rule which legislates what should be common sense. Last night we once again were attacked by a few children (one can only assume, or emotionally stunted adults) wielding the all mighty power of the "pr0n bomb".

Therefore, going forward, anyone who responds to a porn attack (or Trolls) or brings attention to them in any way, besides reporting them or sending myself, CP, or another mod or admin a PM, will face a temp ban. Multiple infractions will result in a perma ban.

In short, if you see a porn attack/post, do not acknowledge it, AT ALL, even with a "IBTB" or anything else, save to report it. YOU WILL BE GIVEN TIME OFF.

A "p0rn bomb" is only a temp ban?

Sometimes I think the mods are way too forgiving. Perma-ban p0rn bombers.

Then again, probably "temp" banning has more effect because the temp-banned person is less likely to create a new profile?

I think the registration process should be made a bit more convoluted - make it where the account will be created in 3 days or something.

Granted, that would slow down the number of people registering, but, it would also slow down the number of idiots re-registering after being banned.

No, porn bombs are perma. Always. Those that encourage them are temp. To a point.

Okay, so i understand how the new rule works, but i feel like its sort of reactionary, and based on assumptions.

Heres my little thought experiment, bare with me because its quick.

We keep the board work safe, so that regular people can visit during regular lives. Whether they're at work and bored, at home with the family, or militantly religious, HC likes to cater to all musicians. This is great. More musicians means more experience and more knowledge, i love it.

Now for the porn, how many people "accidentally" click on porn/troll threads? Everybody understands the risk in doing so. And assuming its safe to click on a troll thread because this is a SFW board is an act of stupidity.

So what i'm trying to say, is that the people who are offended by it, typically will avoid the threads because of thought of future repercussions from boss/wife/acts of god etc etc. And if they don't, it was their risk to take.

So in a way, although it seems like you're protecting the easily-offended from porn, you aren't at all because they probably protect themselves, and if they don't, well so be it. All the people who DO post in the porn threads however, are, as you said, the night crew, who do not fall into the easily-offended groups. Plus the fact, the trolls around here aren't well orchestrated and only post porn at night, not realizing all of the damage is to be had during the daytime hahaha. People don't work a desk job ay 11pm+ so they're out of "worksafe"'s harm's way. Most people are asleep by 11, so the families are safe from peeking over dad's shoulder to see DD breasts and hairless genitals.

I feel like this new rule isn't protecting anybody, but more so just handing out arbitrary bans to the night crew.

To close, i just want to say i like HC because of the freedom i associate it with. Very little rules, and what rules there are, are easy to follow, logical, simple rules to prevent a 4chan from happening. Unlike TGP which is a 1984 totalitarian society. By handing out bans for simple responses, i feel like its taking a step in that direction. I just don't want it to go that direction, because in all honesty, TGP is really {censored}ing lame.

PS. Is there a possibility that we can modify the forum to have a "sage" command? Basically, you type "sage", or another codeword into the title field, and it prevents the thread from being bumped?

Porn is not, nor has it ever been, allowed on HC. It is too easy to find in other places for me to even give it a seconds worth of thought about the issue. Follow the rules as posted and all is well. If the "night crew" are the ones unable to control themselves, then yes, it will be the "night crew" who will be the ones bearing the brunt of the bannings. It really doesn't matter to me if I ban everyone or no one. It takes three clicks for me to ban someone, zero to ban no one, the difference is negligible. I'd RATHER not ban anyone, as I do not enjoy it and often times hate doing it. I would also RATHER not have to deal with 40 pages of porn bombs and forum regulars begging for more. Life isn't fair all the way around, right?

The rule is VERY easy to understand and not for negotiation. You are, as always, welcome to go to admin and explain to them you feel porn should be allowed because everyone knows what a porn thread is and only clicks on it because they want to see porn.

Likewise, you are also welcome to go to admin and explain that mean ol' JC is coming down on the people who beg for porn bombers to post more porn.

For our amusement, let us all know what they say.

As for the rule, get used to it. I tried being nice. I tried being polite. I am now beyond that on this issue and this is the last I will speak of it. :idk: I hope you understand my position.

I didnt say let porn be here. I just said that banning people for posting in the thread was lame. Sure ban people ASKING for it. But banning people for putting IBTB in a porn thread is pretty weak.

Be honest. It is arbitrary to ban somebody for "IBTB".

I am all for banning people who encourage it.
