Members IHATEMUSIC
wesley, something to be said for communication and getting in touch with something that means something to a large number of folks. also, you act as if instrumental phone hold music isn't common or average. as far as instrumental guitaring goes: link wray, the ventures = above average sappy crap while you wait for the next available operator = well, you know... Members Frank Prince
Well, it's nice to see that's Wes's small but fanatical fan base is intact. If a coked up, moneygrubbing record exec happens onto HC and discovers Wes's potential for getting people obsessed with him, he could end up being the next Fiddy Cent. Jazz-style. Mad props, dawg. It's funny that you're always around to document how much you think people are obsessed with Wes. In fact that's kinda what you're getting known for. Like it or not. Now, ain't this folly for the mediocrity board you so lovingly post on these days. You could do better with better company.'Nuff said.-wp Van Halen's music was certainly liked by the average person. He had a lot of fluffy pop singles. I get your point though. Make whatever music you want to, and hope people like it.

Members HuskerDude
Originally posted by Wes_Powell Mozart, Coltrane, Hendrix, Van Halen, Van Halen were a second rate garage band with a fast guitarist. They weren't challenging anyone other than over-competitive guitarists. Smooth "Jazz" is about as challenging as walking and chewing bubblegum. Any of the challenging music out there in the past 20 years, (Sonic Youth, The Pixies, decent hip-hop, etc...) you dismiss as trash, indicating that you're having a hard time "catching up" yourself. Members Gainon10
Unless you are writing your songs in Latin, you aren't aiming high enough on the intellectual scale, in my opinion. You are compromiseing for commercial success.
