It has more midrange and more "bite" to the attack of the notes. The 6550's give the amp a nice percussive thwack to the note articulation. Go look up Lord Riffenstein's website. He has a ton of clips of the Savage with taming tones than you are used to hearing. I don't really know about the Mark IV though, I don't really have any experience with it.
