Members Prog much?
I'm getting a new amp, but I can't decide on getting a head or a power amp and preamp. I play Progressive metal, but my new band is metalcore. So I'm looking for a range of crystal clear cleans to Nevermore-esque shred to Killswitch Engage-ish tones. If I get a head I'm going to get an Engl Fireball, I've pretty much decided on that. The rest of my rack will be a Rocktron Xpression (w/ a Midi Mate), an EQ and a tuner. So what power amp and preamp should I buy? I want both for preferably under
Members big69
the fireball may just do it for you, have you tried one or can you try one? definitely do before you buy it to be sure.
Members Prog much?
Unfortunately no, I've only played through a Powerball. It was damn nice, too expensive though. But yeah, I'm pretty sure PMT (the biggest music shop near me) stocks fireballs.
Members -todgemistro-
Laney are good on a tight budget. This clip was done with a GH DI'd apparently http://www.netmusicians.org/files/2-final%20mix%20ff%20ts7%20test.mp3 Boosted with a TS7 as well. Sounds awesome for metal. I have a GH50L and love it for rock, I dont really play much metal so I cant help you out there. THe VH100R will be more versatile. Oh yeah, Opeth use or used laneys, so check out some of their stuff.

Members Prog much?
^^ I don't mind. I'm only going to be playing small venues, so a Fireball with an Ashdown Fallen Angel 4x12 (which I already have) should be fine. EDIT: to NICE47. And Ampman, thanks but the 4 channels are slight overkill for me.
