If you wanna stay solid state and buying new and want the headroom youd almost need to go with a 212 valvetronix. But like before said 30 watts tube will most likely cut it as it does for me and 50 watts would definatly have enough headroom. Many lower end tube amps have breakup pretty early thats not caused by not having enough wattage but because of the {censored} speakers that are sometimes put in them stock. A used Crate V series with a boost or a Peavey Valveking with a speaker upgrade some where down the road should do you good (a lot of people make the speaker the first thing to go on the vk's)

ok if i go tube how many watts will i need

 

 

As little as 15 W (tube amp). I know a guy who uses a Fender Blues Jr. for bars and small venues. He mics it to the PA and is plenty loud --even without the PA. (In fact that band often is asked to turn it down.) But I'd go for 30 - 40 W because it will have more head room for the cleans. (You can always use a pedal for distortion.)
