this is my first attempt at something non-guitar oriented. http://hc.bloodyvelvet.com/files/151/orchestra%2022.mp3 everything is just midi keyboard straight into garageband. i've never played piano before in my life save for hot cross buns and heart and soul but midi makes it sound like i actually know what i'm doing. this song is far from done but i wanted to post what i had so far to see what you guys thought.

That is really nice and expressive.

I used to think midi was cheating, and sometimes it feels like it is. But it lets you compose rather than over come the learning curve. Almost like saying composers who don't ply in the symphony they wrote suck, except for the fact you can quantize and hit the keys till something comes up. I have very little training and can't play well at all despite efforts on the $20 keyboard I have made attempts. The PC software with typing keyboard is cool, but limited as keys wont sound together and it is difficult to not hit other keys sometimes. http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/23/music-thing-qwerty-keytars/ -I found this when looking for tips on playing with a qwerty keyboard.:D

Hey Chunk!

Nice song and definitely a change from what we usually post.

When will you finish this?

BTW, not to hijack your thread but a couple of weeks ago I tried East West Symphonic Orchestra Silver at a friends house and in like 15 minutes I had something done and the sound is awesome. If you are serious on composing orchestra scores or something, I'd suggest you try one of the East West bundles.

Here's a little clip using only brasses (no strings), a piano and a Guitar through Guitar Rig2 for a weird FX.
