Hello everyone, I'm just considering starting to DJ and Ive been looking around to buy some equipment, and heres what ive come up with. I already own a pair of hd280s so don't need headphones.

2x http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Numark-NDX400-Tabletop-Scratch-CD-Player?sku=583093

I'm not looking to spend more than 600 bucks on this set, since im just starting out. I dont really care about the scratching feature on this cd player, I'd like to know if you guys would suggest another set to start out in this price range. Also, if I'm on the right track or not.

Suggestions please and Thank you :D

Yea, I'm mostly looking at CDs, but i could go with my computer if I could. The reason I didnt pick CDJs is because there 400 bucks each :S And i thought these could do the trick in the meantime. Anyways Thanks on your insight.

But i personally would just save for the turn tables that you WONT REPLACE!!!! and DO NOT! use virtual dj for your primary mixing source. do the real thing!!!! I would suggest maybe a production program for computer work like Reason 4.0 or Ableton Live 7.0.3 they are good production programs. As for mixing until you can really spin some live shows. it's all practice so i guess you could practice on a program like VDJ, but make sure that you have the real thing! If you know what i mean. but yeah! Anyway homie. Best luck to ya! =)

PS Virtual DJ is a computer program that has turn tables and a mixer integrated to it.

VDJ=Virtual DJ

Hello again, thanks for the quick reply, when you said turntables you mean i should use turntables instead of cds? And yes ive been looking around and i found these to help me start out:

http://bpmdj.yellowcouch.org/djskills.html

I decided to go with cds because it looks like thats where most DJs are at. As for production I'm still not that far I first wanna start off by maybe recoding the stuff i do while messing around and see where i messed up from there. Would i need this sort of program to record this stuff with the M4??

Thanks again

I was talking about cd turn tables sorry man! But yeah they are just so much easier to cue and you wont have to worry about so much money spent in vinyl's and you can widen your music selection with CD's because you can burn the hard tracks =). I dont DJ all that much but one of my buddies does. I Mainly like to produce. I use Reason 4.0 thats my baby =) i wish i could help more
