Here's another new one from me. I seem to be on a roll as far as writing goes. I have three or four others in the hopper, but I am not sure they'll work out. Anyway, I'm doing much better than my one song a year pace of last year..

Lyrics:

What good is having fortune and fame

what good is being good at the game

what good that everyone knows your name

if you don't have love?

What good is having heap loads of power

what good is being man of the hour

what good is all the food you devour

if you don' t have love

Who would think that I might be mistaken

it's evident and plain for all to see

but the simple truths are easier forsaken

I think you would have to agree

look at all the unhappy people

Listen you can take it from me

It's as simple as simple can be

there is no way to be happy

if you don't have love

Who would think that I might be mistaken

it's evident and plain for all to see

the simple truths are easier forsaken

there's another way to be

look at all the unhappy people

What good to wear a crown on your head

what good is knowing everything said

what good is having breakfast in bed

if you don't have love

This one seems to cover very similar territory to the last one.

You're vocal delivery makes this sound like a novelty number--you've got a Weird Al thing going. There are some gawky lyrics in there, too ("What good is the food you devour"), so it's hard to tell if you really mean it. Pick a direction and go with it.

Good tune, I found the vocals and harmonies working out well. I don't agree with the Al thing - I found it was more a 50's-60's vide to it. It's good to hear someone has the writing bug. I've been swamped at work and finally mixed a tune after a month of getting the last instrument tracked. :thu:

Thanks for your insights, CM.

And thanks for the good vibes ido1957. :thu:

The vocal style is definitely coming from a Ric Ocasek direction. I really wanted Benjamin Orr, but my voice is more suited to the other guy. Getting into a character like this has helped to get the musical juices flowing.

Thanks Dave.

The drums are loops. Very convenient when you are writing, but you can never get what you want out of them in the end. I guess at some point I need to learn how to use the Sonar's Session Drummer.
