Just curious what you all think of the lyrics for this one I wrote. I also want to see whether anyone else can pick up on the story of the song. Right now, the music is sort of dirty blues, but that might change. Thanks!

I wanna break your heart-thing

Will read it riddles red

Want you to feel that heart sting

Or the monster under your bed

You see I'm watching from the corner

With shifty sharp eyes peeled

No time to think it over

For the time when your heart-thing's revealed

Say

No

No

No

No, no

Caramel

Licorice

Can I get into this heart-thing, baby?

The box arrived today

Put the package away

Updated all the systems

Cracked a couple of bones

Still she doesn't rush to kiss me

The instant that I get home

Instruction manual wasn't clear

I'm stupid with things of that sort

Chapter 12 is called

I had a hard time getting past the Wilco reference. I don't know what "Heart-Thing" means.

I like how the rest of the lyrics are obscure though. They really could work with cool music. Some of the writing is reallly really cool. Riddle Red. Caramel and licorice. Those area great words. Riddle red is {censored}ing rad.

I really don't like "heart thing" though. That seems like a stupid phrase you are using just to complete a rhyme.

Which Wilco reference? I'm not a Wilco fan, so it wasn't intentional either way.

And close, blue2blue, it's actually about a particularly disturbed man who buys a robot wife because he wants to emotionally abuse her (and break her heart-thing), but can't get her to fall in love with him, and ends up falling in love with her himself while she remains emotionally cold toward him. "Heart-thing" is the robot's artificial heart.

Also, after talking to my drummer, decided to change the bridge part to

"Big expensive machine

Should just sell it for parts`

Big expensive machine

Big expensive machine

Big expensive heart-thing

Big expensive machine

Stupid {censored}ing machine

Watch it glisten and gleen

Big expensive machine

Big expensive machine

Stupid {censored}ing machiiinnee"

to give the cursing more impact.

Wilco. I am Trying to Break Your Heart. One of the best songs ever. This is the acoustic version. You should buy Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Everyone should.

Awesome, will listen.

And I'm trying to write an awesome jingle/The Who Sell Out-esque radio commercial to accompany the song. Came up with "ACC, the Artifical Company Company." Thought it was quite clever.

Story of my life.

I really like that Wilco song, but I have to admit I've never really followed the lyrics. You know, I have to pay attention to lyrics all day at the office so when I get home, I like to put my feet up, kick back, feel the groove, and just grab the occasional disembodied phrase or two out of the songs I'm listening to.

Metaphorically speaking...

;)
