Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
I was just doing some push ups and seriously wondered. Were like ancient Egyptians doing push ups to stay in shape without heavy rocks or weights?
Members HELSTRUME
I know the Roman soldiers did tons of dips everyday. But I doubt Egyptians did anything. All the building they did, was probably enough.

Besides helping your wrists out, do you feel any benefits in your chest? I've been on the fence about getting a set of those...didn't know if it was another one of those gimmicks or if it is actually legit.
Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
I did a little research. According to wickipedia the term was first used between 1905-11. Also called a "press up". Still, seems like an easy thing to discover; must have occured way before the term was used. Heck even a caveman could do it and probably alot of them. Here might be a topic for another thread....how much more physical strengh did cavemen have then us?

If you follow the courses and routines, you will see the diff. You can also order advance courses.

Members knucklefux
i wouldn't imagine that "cave men" were any stronger than modern man, nor is modern man any more intelligent...assuming of course that by cave man, you mean early homo sapiens. Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Still, I wonder which culture pioneered "exercise'. Most early cultures had it "built in" (hunter gatherer societies) but I wonder if someone slightly more obsessed with their physique began doing push ups one day and it stuck. Members Holy War
I know Ben Franklin was an avid swimmer. I always assumed ancient civilizations stayed in shape by training for combat
