I don't know. It's not contemporary. It's not even that sincere. It might be kind of hokey and still... I kind of like it. Any ideas how it could be better?

You were down

Lord, you looked lonely

You said he broke your heart in two

Like a stray cat

I took you home with me

Tried to undo what he did to you

How can I make a memory die

How do I erase him from your mind

When I wrap my arms around you

You

Thanks guys. It almost seems too... pat. I guess that's it's strength maybe. Anyway, if someone has a pointer on anything, I'm all ears. I think this could be done in a swampy Sonny Landreth meets Ghost Riders style with rolling brushes on snare and spooky, tremolo guitar.

Really nicely put together song. Well-performed, too. It might benefit from a drive-into-the-ditch departure of a bridge after the 2nd verse, maybe.

I can hear the swamp lurching in the rhythm guitar---I could see that working. It would be awesome to hear this with an atmospheric lead guitar (really, more like 2nd rhythm guitar, hah) to fill in the space. Let's see a fuller arrangement of this song! It deserves it.
