Looking to beef the sound of my Mesa Rocket 44 a bit and there's a decent looking example on clist for $200. Playing modern hard rock and metal. Thanks. Members peehoo Posted June 23, 2009 Members Share Posted June 23, 2009 It is an extension to the 1*12 split channel JCM 800 combo. Originally it came with a G12-65 speaker. A lot of people will claim it's THE rock speaker. I never played one so I don't know. But those speakers can be expensive. Later it came with the G12M70 which is less praised or even hated. So I'd look into what speaker is in the cab and also what I would want. If you want to add some closed back thump and tightness then a closed vs. open back design could be a deal breaker. It has a Celestion G12K-85,not sure if that's the stock speaker. Closed back thump/tightness is exactly what I'm looking to add to my open back V30 Mesa combo.
