I think the main reason I sold the old jcm800 aside from the lack of versatility was the fact that I could not tame the beast. It was extremely trebley like you had turned the presence up to infinity (even though it was very low)! Mind you I was very naive back then and in retrospect I was playing a guitar that lacked a decent bass response, with an EMG81 (I will never change from this pick up but it is kinda brittle and trebley) with an sd-1 (again big mid range hump) through the jcm 800 2203 (no compression and very upper mid range biased), through gt75's (very harsh). So no wonder! In my fairly limited experience, guitar sounds that are to flabby and bassy just dont cut it live at all, sepecially in a 2 guitar band. I want to feel the gallops as I hit them!!! The other guitarist plays a ROOST amp (old British 100W), it sounds absolutely fantastic, more marshally than a marshall! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
