At least when Thatcher was in she kciked the arse of the striking miners, Gordon Brown (texture like sun) is trying to do the same with the BA staff, but because he's a dopey blind twat that nobody likes, nobody actually has his back. I reckon a terrorist from the BA staff will blow him up soon.

Actualy the tories would be harder, BA staff are the best paid in the industry (well uk any how) But there striking about job losses, well welcome to capitalism.

I dont want Brown to be around either we really need a change in goveremnt, and I am worried people will go to the Extreme and vote in the BNP, wich is going to be a very bad thing.

I'm voting SNP.

Independence is a chance to break us out of this Tory/Labour cycle.

Sure, there's a chance it could all go tits up, but there's also the chance it'll work out well for us, for me.

I can guarantee it won't turn out well for me staying in the UK.

I married a Yank so I can go there - don't want to though, think it's an even worse choice!

Nah the damage was done before that and they managed to drag the country into a recession without the aide of a global finance collapse!

The millenium dome was a cock up but that probably would have gone through no matter who was in charge of the batphone.

Unemployment was nominally 5% throughout the mainstay of the labour years, which got shat on by global economic collapse, of which the seeds were sewn decades ago by the carter administration encouraging sub-prime lending. Unemployment under the tories through the 80's was nominally 10%.

Maggie started off with a complete pile of mouldy socks from the previous labour Government. The recession the UK endured was largely because of the previous Labour Government's utter failure. Although times were tough and many people went under, there were still core opportunities for people, still paths to re-train workforces and moreover still doctors there when you needed one. And she did all that despite Kinnock being the total cock he was!

Trust me, as an Irishman, Maggie and Major's handling of the IRA business was disgusting and at the time made me want to hurl abuse at the Newspapers. But at the end of the day, their governments were utopic compared to today!

I refuse to believe that the global collapse is whole heartedly responsible for the complete screw up we have now found ourselves in. There is no evidence to suggest that, bar the mouthings of particular labour peers, read, people in their pockets.

It's how it works...

The tories build a strong economy, labour get in and spend all round them until it all goes tits up, just in time for a tory government to get in and look like they're to blame!

Its strapped into one great big {censored}ty cycle. Both parties are that central now that there is not much between them. The only thing that will break it is if the lib dems get in and I have no idea how that could happen as their front man has the charisma of a dead gold fish.

Now this was originally about fuel prices and {censored}ty public transport. Just remember who privatised that ey... ;)

Before my time tbh. The point remains the same though, we aint in control of public transport and the people who are, are total arsewipes.

Couldn't agree more. But that's largely inflamed by the total greenies and the socialists who believe that there's a one-size-fits-all solution that will overnight make people shun motor cars and all get on public transport like some big hippy love in with the sun shining and the care-free shine in our eyes!

Sadly, this is real life and people like me and many others need a car!

The greenies (careful now, I'm a climate scientist :cop:) and socialist arent the issue. The issue is that the network just doesnt exist. 18 months or so ago there was a referendum in manchester to bring in a congestion charge and it got shot down because it was a joke. I voted against it and I dont even drive. I couldnt possibly abide by publicly raised money through a snide tax on the motorist (the outter perimeter was the M60, making it span an area of 80sq miles btw) going to stagecoach who would do {censored} all good with it anyway. To really seal the deal in the months before the vote went live stagecoach started pulling services to try and make the system look in worse shape than it really was. Cunts.

Agreed. But as a climate scientist, can you really point to any reasonable argument to

This is why we should all vote labour, even the hardline tories (like myself).

If tories win this time, all that will happen is the thick people of Britain with their open-mouthed vacant gaze will just buy the socialist bollocks of "These guys are no better" or when tough times call for tough measures and we might have to ya know maybe pay off our national debt rather than fund an after-school club in Chutley Heath, have these slackers spouting off things like "These guys are even worse!"...

Yup, people of Britain are too thick to realise a recovery process takes more than a few weeks. Labour's policy of spending out of recession is a nightmarish fallacy, but I think it's needed to reinforce what a collosal {censored}up of a Government they really are - and for a long time, not a few weeks!

Labour has guided the UK into the worst recession of our times, encouraged the growth of the workshy and lazy, dissolved our education systems, made enemies of those with university education and vilified people trying to do a {censored}ing day's work. Yet we still have these hapless morons walking around who emphatically trust this one-eyed tit! Usually they're the ones in receipt of benefits I might add!

So I say, let's vote em in. Get ol' Harriet Harman on a big float to go around {censored}ing the entire country up one county at a time with ludicrous proposals, multi-million pound efforts that benefit three small woodchuck people in a cave who happen to have a culturally diverse attitude to chicken packing and in three years when even Albania is laughing and saying "Who is your daddy", we can ensure a nice long Tory Government. A good 12 years is what we need at least of proper tory leadership, with these socialist thugs heralded as the treacherous tyrants they are. The image of Gordon Brown and Tony Blair closely followed with that of Stalin and Mao.

In fact, if we could somehow surgically implant the brain of Thatcher into a prime minister's body, bring it the {censored} on!!!! It's the only way to ensure a lengthy tory government!

I've heard this argument before from staunch tories - that our own personal schadenfreude would best be served by voting Brown back in as whoever takes over next is taking over a big steaming pile of {censored} and therefore the election after this would see the Tories in for a while...trouble is the arrogance Brown would get from winning this election and the subsequent mess the country would become would be beyond imagination - we would honestly make Ghana look like the USA...the brain drain would be extraordinary far out-dwarfing that which occurred in the 70s when Healey raised the top rate of tax to 98%....

The big problem with democracies and this goes for the USA as well as the UK is that because politicians only have a 4 year tenor everything is done for maximum short gain utility, both the country's and theirs and any longer term planning is just not considered if it would cause short term pain. And if every 4 years you had to rely on your employers voting for you to keep your job you would probably act in the same way, so I can't blame politicians for the way they conduct policy.

However the political history of the UK since WW2 is that every time a Labour government has been in power the country has ended up with a huge deficit, a f*cked currency and millions of workshy w*nkers who couldn't give a f*ck about anybody but themselves and who get paid to be a c*nt...at the very least the tories do not abide by this socialist mentality that encourages people to be lazy b*stards and to offer f*ck all to the world apart from misery....

The argument appears to be relatively simple...

Oil appears to be a scarce commodity (constrained supply) but very few of the world's population centres/economies are making any real inroads in removing their dependence on oil....hence prices go up.

Now if we get into relative global prices of gas/petrol and taxation policy (government cheese) that's a whole different ballgame

1. What evidence is there that oil is reaching dangerously low supplies? Last I heard we had just under 1,000 years worth at current demand at a conservative estimate.

2. Given that the price per barrel of oil is currently less than half of what it was this time last year, again how is the price per litre of petrol justified to be at this level?

3. I'm sure we'd all like cleaner fuel alternatives. If it in any way proved to be beneficial directly to the people in charge of the Government, we would have it already.

Actualy communism would be better for the Underclass, and labour is more right than it has ever been in the past, my views are a little to the left of labour, but still I think this goverment need to be outed, the problem is there is no real alternitive.

You can't honestly believe that?! Labour party being right wing? Commuism a good thing!? REALLY!?

As for pretrol its going to get a whole lot more expensive over the next few years as it starts to run out and the (investment) banks start to stock pile it it (yes the banks buy a lot of oil I have seen it first hand).

Next few years!? I think you mean, it will get more expensive to prop up the pensions of our erstwhile politicians!

Thats not what I said you would make a good polition.

To answer, communism good Idea but would never work due to the human need of bettering them selfs, I am not a communist but I have left wing views and some right wing, but I edge more to the left.

Labour are more right wing since they became new labour this is a very well known fact more of a middle ground than a left.

Nope, we're running out of easily available oil. There is lots of shale oil and other high environmental factor oil but that stuff is nasty nasty {censored} and its hard, damaging and time consuming to get it into a usable product. Very much a case of water water everywhere but not a drop to drink.

The fuel at the pumps today most likely came from oil extracted a year ago (or at least something close to that time frame). Prices should come down in the next few months if there is any justice. Whether or not they do is another matter as the compensatory side of the financial buffering isnt really on the side of the end user.

People dont like nuclear power. Thats pretty much our option.

Sorry, didn't mean to misinterpret.

I still don't get how labour are right wing. I've heard that before, but I still don't get how.
