Members Tommy Horrible
Tommy, you're needed over in the best amp for hardcore thread. I don't have the heart. Didn't even see there was one, thanks for the heads up.

Members Mesa/Kramer
Depends on your definition of Metal? The DSL has plenty of gain "But" for example, anything with the Gain higher than "3" on Red channel OD 2 is Muddy as hell with out a boost and therefore unusable. With a Boost, the DSL muddiness under high gain becomes a non issue. Boost away and the DSL can cover pretty much any higher gain Metal.
Members travis bickle
DSL's are just fine for metal. I do agree that they need that extra something to kick it into super high gain territory. ive been using a keeley modded ds-1 and i love the results. Members Neilrocks25
Your thoughts? This was a discussion in another post. I just wanted to see what most people think. And I am not taking about a boosted DSL. I'm talking bare bones DSL tone. Of course you can make just about any amp sound more metal/hardcore with a boost. Imo I don't think they are good for metal/hardcore. Even with a boost I still think they sound crappy. I think they awesome, I used one and it sounded great. Members Space coyote
I'll get flak for this but.....I had a DSL100 and I played metal, liked it alot, but it wasn't quite there, so I ran an old Sonic Maximizer through the effects loop, made a world of difference. Members BenoA
I'll get flak for this but.....I had a DSL100 and I played metal, liked it alot, but it wasn't quite there, so I ran an old Sonic Maximizer through the effects loop, made a world of difference. Tried it with my DSL50 but prefered without it. But was nice for leads. Just remembered I had a few clips out there: Couple of clips I've made many moons ago... Not the best but gives an idea. Boosted but low volume...http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=7195891 Not boosted but crancked...http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=3833976 And here is a live video using my DSL50 boosted (the clip that starts automaticaly when you get to the site).http://www.youtube.com/sonicstaterocks
