Members HumanFuseBen
About to buy some pots here: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Potentiometers/CTS_Control_Pots.html do an Ibanez RG7, what do i need? I want to say i need the 500k long shaft, split end, but is that right? and what caps do i need? All my Ibanez's have a 331 on the volume pot so that is stays clear when the volume is rolled down, but they don't offer that.... is the 001 a good choice?http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Caps_%28capacitors%29.html
Members NaturalBornBoy
I bought a normal, split-shaft pot when I rewired my Jem. A 100pf cap may be enough but it really depends on your preferences. On my Jems, the 330pf caps sounds good but on my N4s, 330 is too big a value. 110pf is more than enough. Members HumanFuseBen
yeah, i really like the 331 i have on my others, so maybe i should just hold out till i find one. I like those thin, clanky sounds you can get with the volume rolled back.
Members Belva
Pull out your shaft and measure it. If it's longer than 10" go into pron.

Members ENdtime
Short shaft.. And your guitars stay clear when rolled down because it has a treble bleed cap on the volume. The tone cap will only affect how much treble gets rolled off when its on 0.
Members ENdtime
Oops just read you were talking about the treble cap. I worked til midnight last night. Me brain isn't on yet.
Members knope
Long shafts are for guitars with really thick tops. Mainly Les Pauls. Get the short shafts.

Members HumanFuseBen
Okay, excellent! Thanks. Okay, another question.... what cap to get to put on the volume knob? And! I need two set of knobs, one is just the usual black metal dome knobs, and the other is going to have a pickguard and have the RG550 style top hat knobs. You know, with 1-10 on them and volume/tone on the tops. Will the typical Strat top hats work?

Members Cougar Hunter
i am replacing them with CTS pots, though, so it should be fine, right? I believe so, as long as they are normal split shaft, knurled pots.

Members Cougar Hunter
sweet thanks! Any ideas on what cap to put on the volume pot? I don't care about caps in guitars since I never use the tone pot, and I just leave the volume knob cranked.

If you like the stock Ibby treble bleed then you're gonna need to get some 330pf caps. That's what all Ibby's come stock with.
