Members jlb32 Posted December 22, 2012 Members Posted December 22, 2012 I still have my old Kenwood cabinet system. Still sounds amazing.
Members GREC Posted December 22, 2012 Members Posted December 22, 2012 You mean those old receivers? Yeah, 2 beautiful Kenwoods, a Sony, & a Lafayette. A Pioneer power amp too. All from the 70s. Keep finding them at estate sales in mint condition for $10. Still using my dad's Kenwood from the 70s -smooth.Unfortunately Kenwood makes {censored} in china now. Bought a Kenwood extra home CD player, barely used it & it was dead in just a couple years.
Members Spärk Posted December 22, 2012 Members Posted December 22, 2012 I wouldnt have it any other way. My big wood cabinet, three way speakers with 10" woofers still blow away {censored}ty computer speakers. They always will...
Members bildo Posted December 22, 2012 Members Posted December 22, 2012 Yes I do. And some laugh at me for keeping these Dinos.. Till they hear them actually move air! Remember, all those little marvels are really just modeling these old beast>;o}

Members HKSblade1 Posted December 22, 2012 Members Posted December 22, 2012 I still have a 45W Pioneer SX780 and the bigger 1080 that blows away most of the audio {censored} today in basic stereo sound and the stereo field. Discrete channels from the in to outs just sound pure compared to all the integrated circuit {censored} that replaced discrete channel amps.
Members soulsurfer Posted December 22, 2012 Members Posted December 22, 2012 Not any longer. Up until last year I had a Marantz 2270 and (I forget the model #) floor standing Advent speakers. I had to recone the speakers some years back, but they still sounded great.
Members NITROHOLIC Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 you cant rock the house with a {censored}ing ipod dock. i old stereo {censored}

I'm using a crap kenwood that doesn't sound as good. Still got the old three way tower speakers and a 10" jbl bass sub that will rattle the windows. The new stuff out these days just doesn't sound as good to my ears but surround sound is nice to have. I've been keeping my eye out for an old tube stereo but haven't had any luck yet.
Members Kenny Powers Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 My grandparents are about to throw away their old system. {censored}ing beastly set up too
Members RaceU4her Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 {censored}, i still want to build one.
Members BEMUSofNthAmrca Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 Hell yeah. Nothing beats an old stereo receiver into 2 floor speakers and 2 aux speakers for vinyl listening bliss.
Members Crunchtime Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 Sadly no. Had a Godly Kenwood system back in the 80's.
Members Mogwix Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 I'm trying to piece my setup back together. Right now I'm using a sony stereo receiver, a pair of speakers from an old Sharp boombox, and a 10" polk subwoofer.Doesn't sound too bad but I'm definitely looking to upgrade to some proper bookshelf speakers and a new receiver. Thinking Paradigm speakers and a Pioneer receiver.
Members falseknight Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 Yeah, Quad 33/303 and Quad 34/304...Not likely to be getting rid of those in the unforeseeable future.
Members Pine Apple Slim Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 2 Sony bookshelf speakers, Sony double cassette deck, JVC receiver & CD player, Technics diret drive semi automatic turntable.The receiver, speakers, casssette, & CD player are early 90s vintage. The only original component is the turntable, got it around 1980-81.

Most of these old systems generally get dirty scratchy pots/switches with age. Get a can of contact control lubricant cleaner from Radio Shack. Does wonders.
Members jamminjohn Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 I've got an OLD Technics receiver SA-5760 (165 wpc) and a couple Bose 601's. I rock the house.
Members LoopQuantum Posted December 23, 2012 Members Posted December 23, 2012 HK surround receiver/Klipsch and Polk Speakers. No longer in the rack though. Part of the home theater. I used to have a B&O system. Sold it years ago though.
