You can't play your guitar, it'll show how poorly you can't play your guitar. You can't drive an amp or play a guitar, it'll show both to everyone. YMMV but that varied mileage'll have more to do with what I mentioned. The controls are incredibly responsive and sensitive, think a bad tooth and a mouthful of ice sensitive. Lick clicks = dramatic changes. I've owned El D 100 for nearly a decade, the 60/30 combo for two years. Each are great amps that can do many things well rather than just shining in one tone/type of music. BTW I didn't say that 10/0/10 = good tone, but the cult of personality about HCAF seems to when they pile on (off) flavors of the month! Derek Clips or you are full of bullshit. Derek LOL how much is someone paying you to be posting this shit? You've got to be trolling. The cleans you can get out of it aren't the worst thing in the world, but if you think for a second that it gets "good" high gain tone, you're obviously the one with the tin ear. Countless people here, including myself, have owned them through multiple cabs, guitars, EQ, boosts, tubes. There's nothing you can do short of gutting the entire headshell to get it to have anywhere near good tone. It's one of the worst amps I've played through in my life, and I've gigged and recording through enough different ones to see how much it sucked. Members Cirrus
Meh. Play what you like, don't worry what others think. I love the vox CPH series and many don't here. And I also love tremoverbs and ac30s so my judgement can't be that impaired!
Members Smedley
I had the 100w head and have the 60w combo. I sold the head because itreally too much for my situation. The combo is great for what i do. They are very versatile amps, IMO. I don't do metal, so can't add much there. But it does clean to modern rock well. I use a tubescreamer to add the saturation it seems to lack on it's own. I like it enough that I actually replaced the head with a 60w head. I don't really care if anybody else likes them or not. It just means that i got mine for great prices.
Members madryan
Worst amp in the history of amps... My toddler could build a better sounding amp from watching me build amps.

When I referred to people saying you don't know how to dial in an amp or that you don't know how to use active EQ in my reply to the OP, this is what I was talking about. But this has taken it to a level I never dreamed of. The real reason the vast majority of us don't like this amp is because it shows us how much we suck at playing and therefore blame the amp. On the other hand, only a truly gifted player can appreciate the positive and negative feedback this amp offers. Wow.
Members BuckshotJenkins
Before I played one I wanted one. Then my band played a battle of the bands, and for time constraints (or sponsorship, dunno) we used the house amp. El Diablo! Yes! ...no. Lifeless. Buzzy distortion. That's because you suck but didn't know it. You should thank the El D for this revelation.
