Members AwesomePants Posted July 1, 2013 Members Posted July 1, 2013 I have a Tele and am looking for a versatile practice tube amp
Members Razsan Posted July 2, 2013 Members Posted July 2, 2013 The HT1 will give yuo some good gain sounds, the Bugera will not...I don;t remember liking much about the V5 come to think of it.

Honestly I hate most of the 5 watt and lower amps. Crate, Bugera, Vox, Epiphone,...the only one I liked was the Blackstar HT5 (in that price range). All the rest sounded like boxey small versions of the rest of their line. The HT5, while more of a hybrid, at least had a huge sound. I'm sure the HT1 is similar.

Might even consider solid state/modling stuff. Heard some good things about the new little yamahas. Some tube amps play well at low volumes, even big ones....you may find you get a perfectly acceptable tone with the Yamaha, Roland Cube, or Fender Mustang. I am not sure why...but amp companies don't really cater too much to the small amp for metal crowd. I guess they figure all the Vypyrs, Spyders, and Crates have the niche about filled up. And if you really want REAL metal...well you need a bigger amp. Also...I would advise to see if you can demo any of the amps for yourself. Even if you have to do a road trip. Other users can advise you, but ears, needs, and expectations can differ....even when narrowed down to "some heavy stuff". If it is compltely impossible to demo for yourself (maybe you live in Anchorage?)....check out as many clips and reviews as you can.
