Members barchiola Posted November 17, 2013 Members Posted November 17, 2013 Hi everyone, Been playing bass since junior high school and have been spending more time trying to get better with a guitar the last couple of years. I bought a Gretsch Power Jet a couple of months ago and now I"m wondering what would be a good amp for it. I love the guitar, it's got "that great Gretsch sound" but the lows are a little too thick, they don't ring nice and clear on the little practice amps I have. I'm thinking about a Fender Blues Deville 4x10 or maybe a Music Man 210 65 or 100. I'd like to keep the sound nice and clean/bright and then work it with pedals later. When I've played through my bass amps in the past the sound was more like a bass and less like a guitar so I'm leaning towards 10" speakers. Would love to hear your opinions on this. THanks, Bart

Vintage Gemini's can be had for not a ton of money, and they're fantastic sounding amps. An older or even reissue Revereberocket would do the trick too. I love your idea of the Music Man as well. Bigger speakers won't necessarily make it muddier, either. Don't rule out 12" speakers.
