Members confuseitall Posted December 25, 2003 Members Posted December 25, 2003 So I've got a $200 dollar christmas bonus plus a 100 bucks to spend at guitar center. Should I buy a new acoustic? Can I get a decent acoustic for $300 bucks? I realize that I'm not in the top of the class around here......but I've only got modest means ya know?
Members EvilHippy Posted December 25, 2003 Members Posted December 25, 2003 save up for a Martin 15 series or a Taylor 200 series.....actually, 86 the 200 series and just get the Martin.
Members confuseitall Posted December 25, 2003 Author Members Posted December 25, 2003 I'm not so well versed on prices.....how much do those usually run? I'd be pretty set on buying new.
Members confuseitall Posted December 25, 2003 Author Members Posted December 25, 2003 ok, I found them. Not too out of my price range. Here's what I'm thinking now: Audio Buddy or ART Tube pre, new strings, assorted accesories with gift cert. Then save the rest for a Martin (or other ..) kind of a silly post I guess, but I get so anxious about spending money on the right things.....
Members EvilHippy Posted December 25, 2003 Members Posted December 25, 2003 they are the best bang for the buck out of any guitar being produced IMO... All solid wood, built in the United States, built by a company that has been around for 171 years owned by a sixth generation.Best guitar you can buy.Only problem is if you want an OM you're going to have to get it custom shop because OM-15's have been discontinued.Unless someone still has one online, i've seen a few on online sites and ebay. You can get one new for about $5...something to $600. You can get a used one for around $450-500.Save up a bit and you can get one, i'm doing the same thing right now, i'm thinking about a new 15 series.
Members Pincookie1 Posted December 25, 2003 Members Posted December 25, 2003 I played on a taylor 110 at a local guitar shop not too long ago, and i really thought that for the money it was a decent sounding instrument. Not sure what they go for online, but it was like 500 bucks at the shop I was in.
Members EvilHippy Posted December 25, 2003 Members Posted December 25, 2003 I can get a 110 for you for about $420-$450 if you want one.IMO, Martin is and always will be better than a Taylor.
