Seagull broke my heart. Bracing question

I ended up returning the Seagull S6+ with dual source mic because a few days later it developed (or I hadn't noticed) an internal buzz when playing the low two strings. The repair guy said he thought it was a loose brace on the top-hard to find and fix. Should I give Seagull another chance? I really liked the guitar, but now I'm worried that it might happen on another one. He said it could be caused by dryness, but the store had a humidifier and I had one in my case. Was this just a fluke? Another guitar I played in a different store had a similar problem but with the high E string- a Breedlove Atlas series. Is this very common? How much too fix? He said I might have to ship it back to Canada to Seagull to have them fix it under warranty, which is why I just returned it instead.

I do when the store has a 7 day return policy and a 20% restocking fee which is about to expire (they waived the 20%) and the repairman can offer no help except to send it to another country to be fixed. I can just wait till they get another one and buy it, or weigh my options and get a different one. Also, the guy who looked at it broght it back with two dings in the top that weren't there before. Sorry, to rant, but I was a little pissed that they sold the last one while I was standing there-for $50 less than they sold me mine for. I gladly took my money back, said thank you and left.

I think you did the right thing. I'd suggest finding another shop that sells the same guitar and trying them. We have a 'shop' here that is just terrible. It's more like a guitar wal-mart, really. Kids bang up all the guitars, and they still sell them for face value. When I was looking for an inexpensive acoustic awhile back, I asked for one out back, and got a weird look. He goes out back, and gets one that looks like a cat ran over it. I said you expect me to buy this? He said, "well it plays fine."

I'll never set foot in that store again. Find a good shop that cares about what they sell, and you'll never go anywhere else.

dude it sounds to me like you need to find a better dealer. Sounds like you were dealing with a mom and pop store who is in the buis not to help customers but to hose them. 7 days and 20%!! That's rediculous. The 7 days is fair but the 20% is foolish. They won't be in buis too long at that rate.

I suggest buying one from a larger dealer. Also, be informed that ALL warranty work for Godin guitars is done in Canada as far as I know. At least all major work is. I live here in Canada and used to work for a dealer and that was most always the case. To their credit, if you had of sent the guitar for warranty they are generally prompt at fixing it and normally will simply send a brand new guitar as opposed to fixing it.

Yikes. Shops like that sicken me... in a way a lot of Guitar Centers are like that. They let this punks pick up any guitar and strum the heck out of it. I remember looking at a DeArmond Starfire at GC when the salesman came up to me and said "that's a pretty sweet guitar, just came in last tuesday." I looked at it... the face of the guitar covered in aggressive, heavy gauge pick scratches... I just said "oh, cool" and put it down. Have some respect for the instruments folks.

Thanks, I think I might try Elderly if I decide to try this one again. I might just go with a pickup for my other acoustic, which I was trying to avoid. I'll decide in the next week or so for sure. I'm sure Godin would have taken care of it, but I didn't want a repaired guitar when this one still had the hang tags on it. I didn't know their return policy when I bought it-restocking fees are a load of crap. What they're saying is, you're stuck with it or something else from our store. Nobody in their right mind would pay the 20%. I'll have to be more careful from now on about that.
