Members sinker
I'd love to try one, but the local 'authorized dealers' only have the 5's. I understand the 9s are very playable and sound great plugged in.
Members 54merk
I have never played an APX Yamaha however I did just check out the specs from Yamaha's guitar site. Both of these instruments are thin bodies so they were built to be played plugged in. If you are looking for that, then either should be fine. The differences are the pickup systems and the body woods. The 5 is made of nato and has a piezo pickup while the more $$ 9 is made of sycamore and has a dual source system which means there is an internal mike along with the piezo so you can blend these two sources. If you also want a good unamplified tone you should consider a full bodied instrument.
