Members deltaslide Posted January 22, 2004 Members Posted January 22, 2004 Howdy, Y'all. I currently play a Gibson J-45 rosewood that I dearly love but I'm interested in finding something exclusively for delta blues, like a Martin 000-18 or something similar. Anyone have some suggestions? Thanks.
Members slide_blues Posted January 22, 2004 Members Posted January 22, 2004 Resonators are awesome for slide to say the least, have you considered one or are you just looking at flattops? If so, many say that smaller bodied all mahogany ones are good for slide, or ladder braced Stellas.
Members Carle Posted January 23, 2004 Members Posted January 23, 2004 If you can wait for a month or so Doug Jones and Mike Crixell are having two guitars made for just blues style. They are the Crossroad and the Corinna. You can check the specs. on LittleBrothers web site. They will be built by Crafters of Tn. and they should be killer blues guitars. They should be available sometime in March or April.
Members deltaslide Posted January 23, 2004 Author Members Posted January 23, 2004 Thanks a ton, Carle. I'm in no huge hurry and I'm quite content with this Gibson. I could wait at least that long because I'm pretty picky. Thanks again.
Members Carle Posted January 23, 2004 Members Posted January 23, 2004 BTW, I have played a Gibson J-45 Rosewood and they are fine sounding. I have a rosewood Gibson that I love very much so I understand. I plan to buy one of the two guitars but I want to play them first to see which one.
Members deltaslide Posted January 23, 2004 Author Members Posted January 23, 2004 Hey, Carle, I just looked up those guitars at LittleBrother and you've hit the nail on the head; that's exactly what I'm looking for. Now we just need to see if I can afford one. The maple sounds great but I prefer the mahogany tone for blues.
Members Carle Posted January 23, 2004 Members Posted January 23, 2004 When you get one of those little ladies you will have to bring her to LB's Jam next fall. Marcie (my L20 Gibson) and I and probably a Crossroad will be there.
