Members homestar Posted February 3, 2004 Members Posted February 3, 2004 hey guys, a friend of mine is having a birthday soon and his dad called me to ask what he should get him...i knew that my friend was looking for a really nice acoustic guitar, so i bugged him today about what his dream acoustic would be (we're both electric players, so we don't know a thing about acoustics) - anyway, we came up with a list of features we'd like to see. with this list, i was wondering if any of you acoustic players could point me in the right direction...price isn't a factor here, but nothing too much - i think under $1500 would be doable. anyway, here goes: *wider neck*steel strings*single cutaway body*a lot of frets (he'd like 24 like his PRS, but i dont think acoustics go that high - just how high can an acoustic go btw?)*as deep and resonant a body as you can get without making the guitar too difficult to play on, meaning it doesn't go out too far from you body (hope that makes sense) anyway, thanks for your help guys, i'm going to guitar center tomorrow to see if anything catches my eye

Look for models 314CE, 414CE, 514CE - the only real difference is the type of wood used for the back/sides. At 1 and 3/4" the bolted-on necks are very comfortable for electric players. The body is a bit shallower than a standard dreadnought but doesn't really seem to lack in volume or tone. My next recommendations would be a Larriv
