Members Scott Glover
If you watch alot of Country music like I do then you will notice a lot of artist using Takamine guitars as well as Gibson, Martin, Taylor and Guilds, but a friend of mine that has worked as a roadie for years in Nashville told the reason Takamines are so popular is because they hold up on the road and they don't cost a fortune when they do break. I did see a thread about the Baggs M1 not having a volume control and here you go the Takamine CTP-1 takes care of the issue.

Yeah the preamp is made for a Takamine really and like the other 4 preamps they make you can interchange them without any problem, but I think they're good guitars for the road and leave the Bourgeois, Collings and Santa Cruz at home and in the studio. As for putting the Tak preamp into another make guitar I don't know if that's a good idea.
Members Scott Glover
I just got the new May Guitar Player and in the back is a review of the new CoolTube CTP-1 preamp installed in the Takamine EAN16C which is a rosewood and sitka cutaway dread and also installed is the LR Baggs M1 in 2 of the 4 photos. I did put the 000 EAN76 as an example, but the guitar I am most interested in is the EAN16C and I'm about 100% sure I'll be getting it with the CTP and M1 for my gigging guitar. The Tak might not sound has good as a Collings, but when it gets dinged you'll wish you had a less expensive acoustic for using on the stage;) Another thing about the CoolTube preamp is, you can experiment with NOS tubes for a different sound
