Members SurrealMcCoy Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 She finally arrived............well worth the wait............ http://www.hometown.aol.com/aporton/AladoniasGuitars.html Alan
Members TaylorFishin' Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 Excellent choice Surreal. She's a real beauty. I think they are wonderful little guitar's. Great playability and much larger sound than I expected from such a small instrument. I have a Koa/Spruce model and love it. I take it almost every time I travel. If you are like me, you will get much enjoyment out of your new Parlor. I often pick it up at home even with much more expensive and full size guitars to choose from. I just have a great appreciation of the Larrivee Parlor. In my view, they are truly Great little guitars. I have often wondered how the little Parlor's would sound recorded. I think I may just do that, since I'm rained out from work yet again today. Scott
Members LittleBrother Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 God I love small bodies. That one looks very beautiful. Congrats man !
Members Unk Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 SWEET!! That guitar has the kind of look to it that says, "please play me".
Members Jere Mealer Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 Yo! A.P. That's gorgeous. Bring it to Church Saturday so we can all enjoy it. J.M.
Members SurrealMcCoy Posted April 2, 2004 Author Members Posted April 2, 2004 I was very pleased with all aspects of this guitar. Compared to other solid Koa wood guitars I've played......this Larrivee's sound is alot more open vs. the other's more compressed voices. This small parlor amazingly translates that wonderful "bell-tone like" quality of it's bigger brother's. It feels "just right" to position on your lap.....it is very relaxing to manipulate vs. the effort of a dred..... Even the pics I posted doesn't do it fair justice..... This is a "keeper"! I'm in love! Alan
Members Cams Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 Congratulations on your koa delight. I have an all blackwood guitar, which is the same species as koa so I know just how special they can be. As for cosying up with a parlour, I'm now into my ninth month of waiting for my baby (no, not that one!, the Brook!) and can't wait to get my hands on it! Should be pretty soon. Cams
Members deevee Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 I nearly choked on my drool! WOW! I've not played a Koa parlor, but I've tried out others and liked them very much. Thanks for sharing! dv
Members play4him Posted April 2, 2004 Members Posted April 2, 2004 That's a beauty !!!! I just sold my Koa guitar, so I know about koas. They can be very special. So, it has good volume for that size of a guitar ? Can you e-mail me what a good price is on one of these ? Thanks.

I wouldn't say that this guitar's focal point is volume.........I'm very satisfied with what it does give though........ I ended up paying $795 from Elderly........which maybe wasn't the best deal........Dave at www.guitaradoptions offered me a better deal........I just really preferred the wood grain pattern on the one from Elderly....... If you go with a Spruce top.........you're looking at a considerable lower price. Alan

Members lgorditiocrunch Posted April 10, 2004 Members Posted April 10, 2004 Man thats a beaut! What's the sound on that versus a regular acoustic, say a mid-priced (450$) guitar? It looks hella small- people seem to say it has great sound, would love to hear it!
Members dazco-1 Posted April 10, 2004 Members Posted April 10, 2004 Reallllly nice !!! Welcome to club Larrivee. I've been fondling my OM-9 for the last couple hours. I wanted a new acoustic and have been looking for weeks. But i can't find anything that sounds good enough to share the stable with my Larrivee ! I saw one just like yours last week and really wanted it, but my OM is small enough so i'm looking more for a dread. may have to go with Larrivee again ! You certainly made a good choice tho.......congrats !!

And stop fondling that OM-09 unless she's 18 or older;)

It has a very "rich" sound for such a small bodied instrument. It retains the "Larrivee bell-like tone". It certainly is in a different league than the Taylors or Martins. I would prefer this guitar to any "$450" guitar and probably to most twice that amount. Alan
Members zenbu Posted April 11, 2004 Members Posted April 11, 2004 I have 2 smaller body Larrivees... an OM Lite and an L Lite. Slightly bigger than a parlor but smaller than a full size guitar. The OM is by far the easiest of all my acooustics to play... it is perfect. If the parlors weren`t so expensive here in Japan I`d get one but I`ll wait till I return home for good to get one. I really like small body guitars... I have a Lakewood walnut too.
