Members desaljs Posted April 21, 2004 Members Posted April 21, 2004 I have been teaching my 6 year old son, and myself I might add, using a book by Andrew Scott and Gary Turner. It is called Guitar, Book 1 Method for Young Beginners. We are using Book 1 of 3. I ordered books 2 and 3 from Amazon, and have received book 2, but not 3. Number 3 might be out of print. This is a great source to start, and you can learn to read music and play notes and some basic chords. It comes with a CD, and the nice thing about that is you can listen to what it should sound like, and they repeat each lesson 4 times with different "layers" so you can really play along with the music and develop a sense of timing. We have worked through book 1 so far. I really think this is a great way to teach a child. Hope this helps. Regards,
