Members TattooedCarrot Posted April 24, 2004 Members Posted April 24, 2004 I'm a long time electric player and never cared much for acoustic. I got interested after a friend started playing some acoustic so I thought I'd find a little something to fill that niche. All the internet research didn't amount to squat. So I went to GC (gasp!!) because they have a large acoustic room with plenty of stuff to play. After playing nearly every brand in every price range I kept going back to a Taylor 310. The action on this thing plays nearly like an electric and I found myself really digging the crispy bite these seem to have. In the end, I bought it from them with a really nice case for $875 + tax (tax sucks). I was going to scour the net for a cheaper price, but even after playing another 310 they weren't the same and this one spoke to me; I didn't want to let it go. So now I'm on the hunt for a cheaper price to get a match on my receipt for the difference back. At least GC will do that. And I'm digging this guitar immensely.
Members Mahuska Posted April 24, 2004 Members Posted April 24, 2004 Kind of similiar story. Went in Music store, played many acoustic, other Taylors, Martins etc. Walked out with a 310. The thing is, I had plenty of money to burn and felt good about my purchase got about the same deal as you did. Concrats, now go play the {censored} out of it.
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted April 24, 2004 Members Posted April 24, 2004 Excellent guitar....decent price, too!
Members woody b Posted April 24, 2004 Members Posted April 24, 2004 Congrats on your new axe. I would'nt want to buy a guitar from GC sight unseen but you can get a good buy from them sometimes.
Members Fstpicker Posted April 25, 2004 Members Posted April 25, 2004 I would check with Buffalo Bros. and Elderly for price matches on your 310 perhaps. Jeff
Members SurrealMcCoy Posted April 25, 2004 Members Posted April 25, 2004 A couple of years ago..........I found my Taylor 410. She was rather used with quite a few "dings"....but she was the one that "spoke".........this guitar doesn't sound like the other's.......can't see parting with her......... Alan

Jeff I checked a bunch of dealers already including Buffalo Bros (that one was recommended by the GC salesman who wanted to help hook me up). BB has them for $825, none of the others came close. Average was $899. I'll go back to GC next week and see what they say, they forgot to give me any warranty paperwork so I need to get that as well.
Members rh2d Posted April 25, 2004 Members Posted April 25, 2004 I think you got a good deal on a very good guitar. Play it and not to worry about what someone else sells it for. Theirs is not your guitar. In four or five months, if you play it, it's going to open up and blow the roof off. Congrats.
