I'm not Trevor, but I'll give it a shot:

DON'T DO IT MAN, YOUR GUITAR WILL IMPLODE, TAKING YOU WITH IT! ;)

Apologies to Chesh from the CGR forum.

:D:p;)

Tom,

I'm sure you would love to bring the Goody to Portland, and I would love to see it myself. But I would HATE to see your pride and joy get wrecked due to some stupid mishap in flight! I don't know...do you still have your Larrivee? That might be a much safer option.

This was bothering me for a while too...I couldn't figure out which guitar to bring to Portland. Finally, I decided I would just bring my Taylor 714 because if it got wrecked, it would be fairly easy to replace (if I even wanted to replace it)...but also I would protect it by getting a good case.

Well, it turns out that Calton's cases are custom fitted to exactly fit your guitar. So it didn't make sense to me to spend $600-700 on a case for a $2K guitar. I decided instead to get a Calton OM case for my Martin LJ. And then recently I got my H&D OM and they are close enough in size that they both fit the Calton. So I have decided now to bring the H&D.

I would definitely recommend eventually getting a Calton to protect your Goodall. I am REALLY impressed with the Calton case I got. They are way too expensive, but seem very sturdy and well made. The other drag to getting a Calton is the lead time. The current wait is at least 12 weeks I think. I got lucky and found a regular OM-sized Calton that Mandolin Bros had in stock so I didn't have to wait.

How about those clamshell cases by CaseXtreme...anyone tried those? I also liked the suggestion (from Frank Ford?) about modifying a guitar box that you then put your case in.

Well, if it were me I would NOT bring the Goodall unless I was pretty certain nothing bad would happen to it.
