Members FeloniousMonk Posted July 2, 2004 Members Posted July 2, 2004 My current equipment: Ovation Legend 1869 Acoustic/ElectricTC Electronic G-Major effects processorMackie 1202VLZ-Pro 8-channel MixerAudio Technica AE 4100 Dynamic Mic (for vocals; also guitar on instrumental songs)JBL Eon 15 Powered Speakers (2) A friend of mine suggested looking into getting a DI box for my acoustic-electric to improve my tone when going direct during songs that include vocals. (For instrumental songs I'm able to use my vocal mic to help beef up the acoustic sound). Would anyone happen to have any suggestions for my equipment above? The G-Major has a pretty decent EQ built in, but I wasn't sure if a DI unit with speaker simulation would really improve the tone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Members Singin' Dave Posted July 2, 2004 Members Posted July 2, 2004 Most people here recommend the L.R. Baggs Para Acoustic D.I., and I'm one of them. Small size (about the sixe of a stomp pedal), Excellent tranparent sound, great preamp gain, EQ and feedback capabilities and an FX loop for about $150 (less on ebay). Sound guys love em. If you got one I would think you'd actually not have to worry about the mic during your instumental sections. Not too familar with the G-Major nor speaker simulation, but I can guarantee you you will notice a marked improvement in the guitar tone coming out of your PA with this box.
Members Brokenwing Posted July 2, 2004 Members Posted July 2, 2004 E-mail Mark at www.audiopile.net. Ask him. Nice guy with lots of experience and good advice (and very reasonable prices on DI boxes).
