Members takeout Posted July 19, 2004 Members Posted July 19, 2004 I'm not going to be much help, but here's my $0.02: I learned some stuff that was written for thumb and two fingers (index and middle), but I used pick + middle and ring instead. It's pretty much the same concept.
Members ksargent Posted July 20, 2004 Members Posted July 20, 2004 Agreed - nearly any 3 finger arrangement can be played hybrid. As far as lessons go - the only artist that I know that explicitly teaches hybrid (and has instructional tapes/CD's) is Richard Thompson. Of course he does not fit your profile. You might give Homespun a call and ask if any of their country/Nashville type teachers might use this technique. However - once again, any fingerstyle arrangement can be used. Of course most of them will not exploit one of the two major advantages of playing hybrid - using upstrum strokes. The other major advantage is, of course, the ability to play conventional lead styles and to switch back and forth. As you probably know many of the rockabilly and Nashville players use this technique. Ken
