Members funkyfingers Posted July 29, 2004 Members Posted July 29, 2004 I have been looking into condenser mics for live acoustic guitar. AKG c1000s seem to the most recommend mid priced mic. I was hoping to hear some comments for anyone using the NT3 for live acoustic guitar. I have heard people say it is thin and brash. Seems to get good ratings so it is hard to believe, but then again the ratings are coming from companies trying to sell me that same mic.
Members RainsongDR1000 Posted July 29, 2004 Members Posted July 29, 2004 A haven't heard or used the Rode for live gigging. I use the C1000s. It's probably not the best recording mic for $200, but for live gigging it hard to beat the ability to switch to hypercardiod and run off a 9 volt. I'm surprised how many venues either don't have phantom power or it's broken. 9 volt comes in handy! Teja Gerken from Acoustic Guitar mag uses a C1000s for live gigs. If it's good enough for him...
Members funkyfingers Posted July 30, 2004 Author Members Posted July 30, 2004 I think pretty highly of Teja's opinions. In the past, I have bought gear he has reviewed and dissagreed with his findings at first, only to comeback a month later and say, oh hey now I see, he was right. The C1000S is very near the top of my list.
