Members sgrocker77 Posted August 9, 2004 Members Posted August 9, 2004 Is the Takamine eg523sc any good? If not is there any other a/e's u would reccomend in the general price range like 500-900 I really like the sound of a taylor 714ce but that is only for rich ppl unlike me so yeah could u help me out?
Members ChrisNJ Posted August 9, 2004 Members Posted August 9, 2004 Takamines are pretty good. However, I recommend Carvin's Cobalt series. They offer 10 models that are all Taylor quality at reasonable prices. P.S. I like youre sig. I spend too much on the computer and cant play as good as i used to
Members sgrocker77 Posted August 9, 2004 Author Members Posted August 9, 2004 Thanks is there a jumbo carvin i should check out? Yeah i should really try applying my sig to my life as well! lol well thanks
Members ChrisNJ Posted August 10, 2004 Members Posted August 10, 2004 I have a Carvin Cobalt 980MW which is a jumbo and it plays and sounds great
Members sgrocker77 Posted August 10, 2004 Author Members Posted August 10, 2004 Anybody else??????/ Hello?
Members hardlynot Posted August 10, 2004 Members Posted August 10, 2004 I just got a Takamine EAN40C. It would be considered more a mini jumbo. I love the way it looks and sounds. Love the satin finish. Love the cedar top. Love the cutaway. Love the saddle. Love it love it love it. And it sounds awesome plugged in. And . . . best of all I got it new with a hard case for $600 (retails for $1499). Let me know if you're interested. I'll tell you where I got it.
Members Jocko Johnson Posted August 10, 2004 Members Posted August 10, 2004 I don't have one of the newer models but I can't say enough about my 1979 Takamine F-360D. I have a Martin piezo pickup in it but that sounds like {censored} so I use a Pro Mag and I'm totally happy with the electric sound of it.
Members takeout Posted August 10, 2004 Members Posted August 10, 2004 Takamines are solid guitars. In that price range, you will find something quite nice.
Members the_schuster Posted August 11, 2004 Members Posted August 11, 2004 I have the 523sc. Its a great guitar, I really like it. I haven't tried the Carvin's, but the Tak was great for the money. It may not be a SJ-200, but it is better than the jumbo offerings of Epiphone. The electronics aren't that bad on it either.
Members kwakatak Posted August 12, 2004 Members Posted August 12, 2004 I'm quite satisifed with my Takamine. I also like the higher-end models in the Natural and Supernatural lines. If you can find one of those in your price range I don't think that you will be disappointed.
Members bt2513 Posted August 12, 2004 Members Posted August 12, 2004 I won't ever deal with Takamine again. I had a guitar for about 5 years that needed a neck reset the first day I had it. I sent it in this month and they said that the Lifetime warranty only covers it for a year....
