Members Jere Mealer Posted August 22, 2004 Members Posted August 22, 2004 Come on, A.P., you're still day-dreaming. Get over to Gilroy and order a McPherson. You know that's the ultimate.

Members rosskoss Posted August 22, 2004 Members Posted August 22, 2004 Whatever happened to Legend guitars? People here used to talk about them all the time. Now I never hear them being mentioned.
Members David Amirault Posted August 22, 2004 Members Posted August 22, 2004 The guys from Legend are still around. Jeff Sigurdson does primarily flamenco guitars (under the name Sigurdson.) and classicals. Jesse Brace (the other partner) went back to work full time and builds Brace guitars in his spare time.Regards David

I haven't spoken with Legend in about a year so I am not aware of what they are doing but you can ask on their forumhttp://www.legendguitar.com/forum/ The OMs that they were making seemed like good guitars to me. I have not played the other model. Good Luck...
Members egordon99 Posted August 23, 2004 Members Posted August 23, 2004 I was definetly interested in the Legend Pre-war OM, especially after seeing the video on Little Brother's page (which is now gone?). I figured it would be comparable to the Santa Cruz OM/PW, but a bit less expensive. Acoustic Guitar reviewed it in their Small body guitars under $3K article. But like others said, they seem to have gone the way of the dodo...What's the scoop?
Members Guitar Adoptions Posted August 23, 2004 Members Posted August 23, 2004 And there are deals to be had on a Santa Cruz OM/PW!
Members todd412 Posted August 23, 2004 Members Posted August 23, 2004 I have played a lot of Legend Guitars at the Alley Cat (http://www.alleycatmusic.net/) in State College, PA and currently own 3 of them, a Cocobolo OM, a 12-fret IR OM, and a IR mini-jumbo. All the ones I have played are exceptional instruments but to me the standout is the 12 fret OM. I'm hoping to get one of these in mahogany to round out my collection. I've played the pre-war OM and it is a very fine guitar. http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Legend-Guitar-Company/MJ-502-01.html http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Legend-Guitar-Company/OMS-302-01.html

Members LittleBrother Posted August 23, 2004 Members Posted August 23, 2004 Well Tacoma makes the D-112 model for them so maybe now they will make them all ?
Members David Amirault Posted August 24, 2004 Members Posted August 24, 2004 I think they still make them just not as many.
Members SurrealMcCoy Posted August 24, 2004 Author Members Posted August 24, 2004 I located a dealer not too far away from me. He has a few OM's that I'm interested in test driving.............will post results............

Members SurrealMcCoy Posted August 28, 2004 Author Members Posted August 28, 2004 The other day when I visited Divine Appointment Guitars...........I played an Indian Rosewood, Maple, & Brazilian Rosewood sides/ back w/Spruce tops. These OM's seemed well constructed w/ good tone (the Indian sounded pretty typical, the Brazilian sounded slightly richer, & the Maple was "bold & bright"). The one thing that stuck out with me was the weight. These guitars seemed a little on the heavy side. I didn't care for that. I can't say that I really disliked these guitars..........only that I didn't really make a personal connection.
Members egordon99 Posted August 30, 2004 Members Posted August 30, 2004 I think my finance manager (wifey) is going to let me get the OM/PW! I might have to wait for my guitar to sell (it's on consignment at Acoustic Roots, the Taylor 710), but we're heading over there next week so I can show it to her. I'll point out to her what a deal it is since she loves deals! Still kind of weird about Legend! Originally posted by SurrealMcCoy I still think that the SC OM/PW is one of the best values available!
